creative forays | missio Dei online on Facebook?!

Last updated on: January 30, 2022 at 6:01 am   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

En lieu of two online articles this week, I offer one, easily categorized as a longread, and dovetailing with recent articles. It’s difficult to formulate one central question or theme to chase, since there are a few. I’m primarily considering the question, how many people are churches reaching online? Since this is generally proprietary information, I’ll offer one way of tracking with congregations, or any online sites. Facebook, Patheos, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc., are all platforms operating under one umbrella, so... Read more

of all the religions one could like

Last updated on: December 16, 2022 at 3:26 pm   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

of all the religions one could like This wasn’t supposed to happen. I like the picture though so I think I’ll keep it. I was supposed to set this article for 2023 not 2022. Because it’s set so far back, I can only edit so much. Let’s see, what type of topic do I want to discuss? Antinomianism vs. Moral Relativism This is basically a free writing at this point, but I’d like to compare an ancient heresy plaguing the... Read more

creative forays | reaching people w/ Facebook… my 2021 stats

Last updated on: January 18, 2022 at 1:33 am   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

Last year, I wanted to reach people, but I also wanted to zero-in on paid reach (i.e. Patheos and YouTube). After the demise of Google+ I have never replaced it, although I liked the platform quite a bit. There were great philosophy groups and it was a good place for organizing ideas as well as blurbs. I still use Facebook and LinkedIn primarily. I have been considering Twitter, but I don’t know if anyone I want to connect with is... Read more

Coffee Chat | Dr. King & strong Theology

Last updated on: January 17, 2022 at 6:22 pm   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

As we think about Martin Luther King, Jr., I remember how a book by Thomas C. Oden and a strong Theology course tied some things together.[1] Thomas Oden has written, among other books, How Africa Shaped the Christian Mind: Rediscovering the African Seedbed of Western Christianity.[2] Dr. King & strong Theology (1:46) Coffee Chat, see recipe in notes [3] The Early Church encompasses the whole Roman Empire and beyond, including much of N. Africa. Many believe the Apostle Mark goes... Read more

wisdom’s public call in the city | Solomon’s wisdom, pt. 2

Last updated on: January 13, 2022 at 2:56 pm   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

The voice of wisdom is not only clear, but available for all. She is available everywhere we turn in the city, “public places” or “the streets” The commentary and Scripture translation in this article is drawn from the works of Michael E. Williams. Otherwise the King James Version is utilized unless otherwise noted. I will cover Proverbs 1.20-33. Last updated on: January 10, 2022 at 12:02 pm   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

When I listened to this song with my son, heard this version with the guitar solo, and realized how she can improv, it took me back. This is how one of grandpa’s solos would emerge. It’s not far off from his style. I heard this song on a random playlist. It was one of those tunes that I couldn’t get out of my head, so I put it on one of my playlists. “Out of the Blue” I don’t know... Read more

sin drains one’s life blood | Solomon’s wisdom

Last updated on: January 7, 2022 at 1:42 pm   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

At best, Solomon is referring to shedding the blood of animals in idolatry. At worst, he is referring to the murder of humans made in the imago Dei. Either way, the habitual sinner digresses to a point in his mindset where he no longer values life blood. Wisdom does not simply offer golden nuggets of truth for us to consider. These days, we may not find wisdom posting happy thoughts on an online social network for people to read as... Read more

creative forays | spotlighting relationships on LinkedIn

Last updated on: January 2, 2022 at 7:42 am   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

If you want to form relationships, connect with others online. This seems to be the rule of the day, especially in these times when we’re all living in our caves again, but is it the best rule? This question is beyond the scope of this brief article, so we will find another place to start. What are some ways to spotlight relationships on social networks, specifically on LinkedIn? I still use Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn. Each one has their own... Read more

new year, new credentials, & new diet?

Last updated on: January 2, 2022 at 7:26 am   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

I hope your Christmas was Merry and I hope you’re having a great New Year as well. One of the things I always enjoy about the New Year is something quite simple, and it’s opening my credentials card from the Pentecostal Church of God, where I’ve been a minister for a few years. PCG Credentials I already received mine in the mail. Our mission this year on our credentials card is One Story. I think it’s a tremendous way to... Read more

creative forays | YouTube vlogs and podcasts

Last updated on: January 1, 2022 at 4:08 pm   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

I work primarily with WordPress on Patheos and YouTube to store videos for the vlogs. There are vlog designers who can assist with tutorials on the look of your vlog depending on your blogging platform and video platform. My particular column was originally noticed by Patheos when I was on another platform. On the other platform, I shared one vlog per week, usually a teaching, sermon, or academic piece. I agreed to a contract with Patheos Evangelical in 2018, to... Read more
