Do people create a 3rd space or a 3rd order?

Last updated on: May 15, 2022 at 6:53 pm   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

Do people create a 3rd space or a 3rd order? How can the practice of solitude, silence, and even a sense of communion with the natural order be separated from the decisions-miracles-dialogues which follow many of the vignettes at the beginning of Mark’s account? Teachings usually occur in the synagogues, at the Temple Festivals, possibly at a prominent leader’s home as well. We see multiple examples of this in the Gospel. However, we see a real 3rd space or order... Read more

just curious, is there an etymology for curiositas?

Last updated on: May 11, 2022 at 7:49 pm   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

At the outset of the day, there is a word I continue to consider, as I have over time recently. The word is easy to track back to if one is to conduct etymologies. However, an absolute definition of the term is not so easily offered. There are schools of philosophy and names who are well known at the Christian family table of dialogue, who have spoken to the thought over the centuries. The term is essentially one developing at... Read more

school job options & grad school couples

Last updated on: May 7, 2022 at 11:55 pm   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

At one point in the early part of this century, a couple with one spouse (or both) in a graduate school was ranked at the top of every family stressor. Yesterday (Saturday, 05.07.22) it all started with an article from Harvard (9 min read) CLICK HERE There really are jobs in religion in conjunction with other fields of work, not only on campus. I’m not much of a politician. Yet I really like the eventual outcome of working with the... Read more

Pretty Good!!

Last updated on: May 6, 2022 at 3:45 pm   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

As stated in the previous article I’m sharing some narratives about a woman, a mother, and a well-respected regional leader. She had national influence, and certainly now has global prowess. The second story connects the continuing work of some of her children and her ability to flow across the threshold. She moved from smaller groups at the table to larger crowds. She already has a well-ordered vocation within and without the home, a life as an educator, as a formal... Read more

I would say they’re about equal

Last updated on: May 6, 2022 at 3:03 pm   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

I hold to some favorite stories told about the wife of a respected regional leader. Of course they are documented and readily available in some centers of advanced learning. For the sake of brevity, I’m going to share two of them today with a brief video. I’m pursuing plain English, especially since these narratives are based on true stories. However, any person or type of corporate body can interpret these brief remarks in any way desired. Names could be used.... Read more

editorial: make potatoes & a man shows up (10 mins)

Last updated on: April 25, 2022 at 5:58 pm   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

” …You know what I always say, ‘Make potatoes and a man shows up!'” i. Oh really? Let’s work on that and warm it up a little bit Of course, on my health journey I would like to know if the potatoes idea could work with red potatoes. For some terrible reason, I’m craving a root beer float from A&W. I don’t even drink, unless under the umbrella… of a liturgical communion, which is good but not really for me... Read more

the book

Last updated on: April 22, 2022 at 12:21 am   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

I consulted online Stanford and Fuller libraries, as well as a smidgen of articles. However, I have drawn the information about Thomas from seminary studies. Again those are not exactly at my fingertips, but I’ve read over 800 words for one project. A mentor taught me to pray the Lord’s Prayer. I gathered the mentor was Pentecostal with an Independent Wesleyan bent. At times, we did somewhat of a prayer of examen. At one point, the direct question at hand was,... Read more

part of Wm Taylor’s net catch in Frisco from the sermon

Last updated on: June 8, 2022 at 1:55 pm   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

At times it really IS a strategy to share something for an audience of 1, no matter how far one wants to make the sermon reach. Outside the sanctuary, a couple of predominant families expressed how much they liked the sermon (one predominant family in the region and the other in Ohio). lead-in In fact, with those two families in mind, I have been motivated to actually post both sermons today, not just because I like to get around to... Read more

William Taylor mist… ifies San Francisco

Last updated on: April 18, 2022 at 2:32 pm   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

He often preaches in unlikely places like a street preacher in San Francisco. This is my paraphrase of one of his stories that ties into our themes today, from the sermon. William Taylor lands on Long Wharf in San Francisco on a ship. Long Wharf was later known as Central Wharf or Commercial Street Wharf. It turned out to be the largest wharf in Frisco in the 1800’s, up to 5 city blocks long. I believe it could have been near the Wells... Read more

Good Friday Hook | posted earlier today on the net

Last updated on: April 16, 2022 at 1:37 am   By Rev. Jared V. Ingle

Snippet: This isn’t the hook either, although it IS a fact from history/tradition. There are similarities between John’s way of life and Essenes who would travel the wilderness, even East of Jordan… Who said Jesus wasn’t rich?… Good Friday “hook” at the close Mary Magdala has a very lucrative business before she meets up with the traveling band of men and women [often traveling together for safety] including the Apostles and a new prophet to rival the prophecies of Moses... Read more
