I’m Thankful

I’m Thankful

All across America, people are getting up to slow cook their turkey or ham. I’m up because I’m getting ready for Black Friday in the retail world. My shift begins at 5 AM tomorrow, so I went to bed last night at 8:30 PM. I thought I would try a practice run.

As I think about the day ahead, I am reminded of recent things that I’m thankful for.

I’m thankful for a son who does not settle for a phone call, but who always insists on FaceTime.

I am thankful for a pastoral staff who I can be totally transparent with. I can share information about my relationship, my personal life, and my vulnerabilities, etc. On Sunday I asked Pastor Doug to pray for me because of the grueling week in retail, and because of my vulnerabilities. He quoted some Scriptures, and then prayed for me. A couple others joined in prayer. Then the next day, Pastor Doug sent me this text.

Psalms 34:5 NIV – Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.
I’m praying that over you now!

I’m thankful to be a member of Christpoint in Galena, Kansas. Sunday I was also accepted into the membership after completing discipleship courses. I can’t say what this year would be like without my church.

I’m thankful for family who will be gathering today to eat a big Thanksgiving lunch. We are all Christians, which is not a bad added bonus. They lend an ear, offer sage advice, and then respect my decisions whatever they may be. They are all highly educated, or highly advanced in the business or church world, or a combination. Their words to me are wise and grace filled.

Petra – Thankful Heart

I’m thankful for good music, even if it did sound more cool back in the day.

I’m thankful that I’ve learned contentment with food, clothing, and shelter (1 Timothy 6.8). I look forward to what God will provide in the near future.

I’m thankful for employment, even if during the holiday rush. Work is a gift from the Lord!
