200 Cigarettes (1999) taught me a very important lesson. If a movie’s cast lists more than five actors you know well, but you’ve never seen the movie, it’s probably dreck.

Case in point: 200 Cigarettes boasts Dave Chapelle, Paul Rudd, Courtney Love, Elvis Costello, Christina Ricci, Janeane Garofalo, and Kate Hudson. Some of that manage to be a little funny, especially Chapelle. But only days after watching this thing, I remember almost nothing except that it ends with a party. The characters all deal, as best I recall, with the fundamental human problem of love, though not in any striking way. A few people kiss, I think.

I know Elvis Costello shows up…A couple times?

There’s not much here to review. But try the rule. Let me know how it goes.
