If you lived in the sixties….
These are tumultuous times. If you lived in the sixties, those were pretty bad times as well. The fear of impending change indicated by long hair, rock and roll, draft card burning, and All in the Family. Problem then wasn’t who to believe on the news. We could turn on the news and believe what we saw and heard for the most part. What is our faith in chaos? There were pictures to support it and as we all know, a picture is worth a thousand words.
Until now.
On my computer the other day, I saw gorillas holding a cell phone, filming themselves running through the forest talking in perfect lip sync to the camera. If you didn’t know gorillas could not talk and run with a cellphone videoing themselves (as least I think they can’t) you would surely believe they were. The world has the ability to now create fiction. There are people, all day long on their phone or computer, and have fiction telling them what they are looking at is true. Telling me and you, if we follow them, they have the truth and they will give it to us. Just listen to them and support whatever they are slapping with their pickleball paddle.
Has-been movie stars are ‘leaving the country because they can’t live here anymore.’ Apparently implicating the country is a crap hole to live in and they have a way out. Men are women because they say so, women are men because they say so. Parents, hearing their child wants to be a kitty demand their child’s school district put kitty litter boxes in the rest rooms for them, apparently so they (the parent I guess) feels better about their own issues.
…it needs to rescue….
This country feels it needs to rescue the world because people-billons of people, are so destitute the American heart string rings 24/7. A noble thought always but one which, unfortunately, we can’t do. But we keep trying because if not me, then who?
We silently, speaking only to ourselves, want them, whoever them are, to replace some of those who were born here simply because those we want to save are, well, just better people. We want to get rid of the dead wood. People can be normally good people. Most of them incoming just want a better life and we are the better life place. Some do want to take our grandmother’s social security checks, if they are still mailed and eat American hot dogs. But the law is the law. We dwell on it because those damn heart strings ring loud in our sleep.
We actually are a better life-place. But we have to choose that-daily-each in our own way. But we doubt ourselves.
And Evil smiles.
…in fifth grade….
We have countries poking us in the chest like a little man with a big ego we knew once in third grade, calling us names like the little third graders would do, to the little family friend of mine on the playground. Unfortunately for the little man, he did it in front of another third grader—who ‘brought the rain on the playground that day. Well, as much rain as a third grader could, accompanied by such ‘Patrick Henryish’ verses as ‘shut up you stupid-head!
Countries and people groups want to kick sand in our collective faces, completely unaware of what a country of freedom, needing an answer to a problem, could come up with, like duct tape. Like flying over or digging under and listening to their cell phone and bathroom conversations. Freedom is creative.
So, we run faster, jump higher, work harder-longer hours. Move away from relationships unless we get something out of it, benefit, justify ourselves, get higher on the ladder. Forgetting the world is full of this and mostly beyond our skill level. Our families suffer, bend, then break. The spiral continues down.
The grin on the Beast grows.
…waters which continues….
We are in waters which continues to ebb and flow. Looking at our future is different than before in the sixties. It is sneaking up on us as we find ourselves distracted. But here’s the thing. WE, can’t fix it, actually, we can’t fix much of anything, including the leak in our toilet. We try but simply fail. A coach once said, and it has been used by me as a metaphor for decades-keep your eye on the ball. Meaning, look behind the veil of it all. We can do what we can do. Nothing more. We are not in charge, but someone other than ourselves is. Trusting the other is scarier than trusting ourselves with it. And we struggle with even knowing ourselves or worse, trusting me. I will crash us like a Cornet 2-door on an Alaskan highway in the winter. But there is One we can go to. Hebrews 11:1-3 NIV – Faith in Action – Now faith is – Bible Gateway
Evil loses its smile now.
So, turn off your TV, log off of Tic-Tok at least for a while—unless it’s those talking dog clips—oh for the love of all that’s Holy! OR THE GUY ROCKING HIS BABY DONKEY and love your family as you blindly trust this—One.
We can’t fix any of it.
There is nothing else. We can’t fix any of it. So, all we can do is simply ask, Dad, I’m scared. I don’t know what to do and I am exhausted. Please, just move my arms and legs today. You know what to do and when. I turn it over to you. Jesus Loves Me As Wide As His Arms Can Stretch | Jesus Love Me
