LOGO Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.

SenecaThere are moments in life where time seems to slip under your hands. In these moments we do not understand well where we come from or where we are going. It seems as if our time is done, and we can expect a long (or short) break until the final moment. Maybe there are times when the truth escapes us, or maybe we are not looking for it. Seneca, in one of his letters to Lucilius, has said: “Now, he rarely comes to see me, only because he is afraid of being told the truth, but he does not run this danger; we must say the truth only to those willing to listen.”

In these moments of dark night in which we are less willing to listen to the truth told to us it seems that the same night is a more assuring place to live than the comfortable light of day. We must always take into account that the way you choose to live, even those virtuous or honest, have a price that must be paid always, and there are no discounts to alleviate its weight.
