Dry Bones by Oudsidescape\/pixabayEzekiel 37:1-5<\/a>: <\/b>The hand of the <\/span>Lord<\/span> was on me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the <\/span>Lord<\/span> and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry. He asked me, \u201cSon of man, can these bones live?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

I said, \u201cSovereign <\/span>Lord<\/span>, you alone know.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Then he said to me, \u201cProphesy to these bones and say to them, \u2018Dry bones, hear the word of the <\/span>Lord<\/span>! This is what the Sovereign <\/span>Lord<\/span> says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I have been in the valley that most educators find themselves in this time of year: the valley of dry bones. I have felt my creativity evaporate, my energy disappear, and my patience, well, let\u2019s not even go there \u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

However, as I slipped into oblivion in my recliner last evening, I had an Ezekiel experience:<\/span><\/p>\n

I heard a voice say, \u201cRemember the valley of dry bones? What do dry things need?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

I responded, \u201cThey need water.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

And the voice replied, <\/span>\u201cLet anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink.<\/span><\/i> For the Scriptures declare, \u2018Rivers of living water will flow from the heart of anyone who believes in me.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Yes!<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

The Holy Spirit is my water, <\/span><\/i>an artesian well, \u201ca spring of water welling up to eternal life,\u201d (<\/span>John 4:14<\/span><\/a>). He gives refreshment, energy, patience, and all the other fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self-control. I need them all. I reckon you do, too.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The remedy for dry bones? Living water!<\/span><\/p>\n

I want the water, the fruit, and the overflow. It is the essential resource that makes me an effective disciple, and dare I say it, an effective teacher. Sing it with me:<\/span><\/p>\n

Like the woman at the well, I was seeking<\/span><\/p>\n

For things that could not satisfy<\/span><\/p>\n

And then I heard my Savior speaking<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDraw from My well that never shall run dry.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Fill my cup, Lord, I lift it up, Lord<\/span><\/p>\n

Come and quench this thirsting of my soul<\/span><\/p>\n

Bread of Heaven, feed me \u2019til I want no more<\/span><\/p>\n

Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole.<\/span><\/p>\n
