IDWGIS Is Here

The International Day of Women and Girls in Science is an annual observance to promote the full and equal access and participation of women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields.
The 8th International Day of Women and Girls in Science Assembly will take place on Feb. 10th.
The 8th IDWGIS will be opened by the Executive Director of RASIT HRH Princess Nisreen El-Hashemite and the President of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly Csaba Kőrösi. The event will also feature a high-level segment, including interventions by the Secretary General of the United Nations António Guterres, the Executive Director of UN-Women Sima Bahous, the Heads of State and Government, and ministers from the co-organizing and co-sponsoring Member States, representatives of RASIT and civil society.

A record number of 31 countries, that is Andorra, Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bahamas, Bangladesh, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Dominican Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Finland, France, Georgia, Honduras, Hungary, Kenya, Maldives, New Zealand, Romania, Republic of Korea, San Marino, Slovenia, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Tunisia, and Türkiye, as well as the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, the African Union and the League of Arab States, are co-sponsoring this year’s event.
It is also being supported by several United Nations specialized agencies, including the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as well as the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
Why is this so Important?

- Encourage young girls to pursue science and provide them with resources and opportunities.
- Highlight the achievements of women in science through seminars, conferences, and workshops.
- Organize mentoring programs to support and guide women and girls in their scientific endeavors.
- Raise awareness about the gender gaps in STEM fields and work towards closing them through collective efforts.
Together we can encourage and support women in becoming the very best in whatever field they desire.
