Celebrating Women and their Excellence in Sports

This February we are celebrating National Girls and Women in Sports Day ( NGWSD), which is a day of observance during the first week of February to acknowledge the accomplishments of female athletes and to recognize the influence of sports participation for women and girls. Let’s continue to honor the progress and advocacy for equality for women in sports.

Serena Williams

Serena Williams is one of my favorite Athletes because of her tenacity, drive, and ambition on and off the court.

Not only is she a wonderful wife and mother, but she is also regarded as one of the greatest tennis players of all time.

Mrs. Williams was ranked world No. 1 in singles by the Women’s Tennis Association for 319 weeks, including a joint-record 186 consecutive weeks, and finished as the year-end No. 1 five times. She won 23 Grand Slam women’s singles titles, the most in the Open Era, and the second-most of all time. She is the only player to accomplish a career Golden Slam in both singles and doubles.

The now-retired tennis player enjoys championing causes that bring awareness to African American Mothers, as well as encouraging female Tennis players to do their best on and off of the Tennis Court.

Serena Williams Diet

When asked about her diet in an interview with the magazine, Women’s Health, Mrs Williams informed them that she feels a person’s diet should complement your life, not the other way around. Mrs. Williams’s diet is packed with lots of leafy greens and organic vegetables that help keep her body and mind focused. Her food philosophy allows her to hone in on self-control and self-mastery when it comes to overeating.

One of Mrs. Williams’s Favorite cheat meals is a bean burger. Guess what? I have that recipe for you! I hope you enjoy it and we can continue to shine a light on wonderful female athletes. Happy Eating!
