Bible Talk

When it comes to the question, ‘What Bible scriptures are most often interpreted wrong?’ My mind goes to two scriptures.

Spare the rod Proverbs 14 V24 ( 24 Those who spare the rod of discipline hate their children. Those who love their children care enough to discipline them. ), many people misinterpret this quote and use it as an excuse to mentally, physically, and emotionally abuse their offspring.

The second bible verse that I bible get misinterpreted a lot is the Bible scripture that speaks of teaching a man how to fish; “Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime,” It is not in the bible. It is a quote from the Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu, founder of Taoism.

How To Avoid Misinterpretation With The Word

To avoid misinterpretation of the bible and its teaching, you must surround yourself with other believers. 1 Corinthians 1:10 says ” But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.”

You should also study it daily so that you can be a living example by how you treat others and show your brotherly love for all of mankind. Psalm 119 V9 ” How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word.”

Dear God

Continue to help us learn from your word and not misinterpret it. Please help us to concentrate on you and the wonderful life you want us to have through your son Jesus.- Amen
