LOGO Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.

“But who is able to build a temple for him, since the heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain him? Who then am I to build a temple for him, except as a place to burn sacrifices before him?” -2 Chronicles 2:6

Solomon knew from the start that the temple was not a place to contain God; it was a place to worship him. As king, Solomon understood influence. Yet he also realized that God was greater than all and reigned free from human limitation. This attitude was one of wisdom, a wisdom given to him by the Lord.

When we come to God with a project of any kind, we also must realize that the project is only a way to serve the Lord and bring glory to him. We are not the only place in the world where he is operating. He also actively works elsewhere, changing lives around the world in ways beyond our comprehension.

Such a perspective should cause us to serve in humility yet with confidence. The Lord who works all things together according to his good is at work in our lives as well. He alone knows exactly what we need, how to provide it, and answers in perfect accordance with his will.
