After he had finished sacrificing the burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord Almighty. -2 Samuel 6:18

When David coordinated the transportation of the ark of the covenant to Jerusalem, he did so with much worship. He danced before the Lord with all his might, as well as offering many sacrifices.

But David didn’t stop with worship; he also blessed those around him.

Verse 18 notes, “After he had finished sacrificing the burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord Almighty.” His worship resulted in blessing the lives of others.

Isn’t service at the heart of Christian worship? It is when we experience God most closely that our hearts burn most passionately to show his compassion to others.

On the flip side, if we have no sense of urgency to bless others, why not? The root of the problem may lie in a lack of vibrant personal worship of God.

As David’s life reveals, loving God leads to showing compassion and mercy to others. Let us worship the Lord with all of our heart; let us likewise live with love toward others as a result of our love for God.

Let’s talk about it on Facebook! Share your thoughts, pictures, or videos on handwriting Scripture.
