LOGO Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.

But Ittai replied to the king, “As surely as the Lord lives, and as my lord the king lives, wherever my lord the king may be, whether it means life or death, there will your servant be.” -2 Samuel 15:21

Ittai lived with loyalty. David was on the run, seeking to save his life as Absalom sought to become king and take the throne. Ittai remained faithful to King David, responding, “As surely as the Lord lives, and as my lord the king lives, wherever my lord the king may be, whether it means life or death, there will your servant be.”

How many people do you care about enough to say you will stick with them whether life or death? Probably not many. This kind of loyalty is rare. Ittai had it and his words are left behind thousands of years later in Scripture. We do not know much about his life, but we do know one thing: Ittai was loyal.

Are you known as a loyal person? At work? At home? To your close friends and family? God commends this type of commitment in our closest relationships. Let us seek today to live for God in a way that pleases him, including loyalty in our important relationships.

Let’s talk about it on Facebook! Share your thoughts, pictures, or videos on handwriting Scripture.
