LOGO Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.

“Whether the cloud stayed over the tabernacle for two days or a month or a year, the Israelites would remain in camp and not set out; but when it lifted, they would set out. 23 At the Lord’s command they encamped, and at the Lord’s command they set out. They obeyed the Lord’s order, in accordance with his command through Moses.” -Numbers 9:22-23

For almost forty years in the desert, God appeared in the form of a cloud over the tabernacle. When it stayed, they stayed. When it moved, they moved. It was a simple, and difficult, as that.

It has been said the most direct path to the land of Israel from Egypt was only about a month. The Israelites took forty years. Part of it was judgment for their lack of faith. But part was due to God’s plan for preparing his people for their new time in the land of Israel.

The temptation was to move when God did not. The same temptation exists today.

Let the people of Israel be a reminder to us today. We tend to move either too fast or too slow. But when we fix our eyes on God, it’s not about the speed but about moving when God moves.

Let’s talk about it on Facebook! Share your thoughts, pictures, or videos on handwriting Scripture.
