LOGO Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.

33 But while the meat was still between their teeth and before it could be consumed, the anger of the Lord burned against the people, and he struck them with a severe plague. 34 Therefore the place was named Kibroth Hattaavah, because there they buried the people who had craved other food. -Numbers 11:33-34

God had provided for every need of his people in the wilderness, yet they continued to complain against him. Despite manna showing up six days a week, they craved meat. Apparently, manna was not enough.

So God sent quail, but the ending was not a happy one. What the Israelites thought was an answer to their request turned into a plague. Many died, with the place being called Kibroth Hattaavah in Hebrew, a name that means graves of craving. Their craving led to their death.

This same craving leads to the destruction of many today. Especially for believers, we find ourselves looking for doors into a house in which we already live. Christ has forgiven our sins and his Spirit lives within us. Jesus even died on the cross for us! Isn’t that enough? Do we really need anything more?

Today, be challenged to live satisfied. You may wish for your situation to be better, but you already have all you truly need in Christ. He is our satisfaction.

Let’s talk about it on Facebook! Share your thoughts, pictures, or videos on handwriting Scripture.
