Titus 1: Live Pure

“15 To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted. 16 They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him.” -Titus 1:15-16

Certain areas of life are black and white. In Paul’s letter to Titus, purity is one of them. A person is either pure (those who know God) or not. Those who are are not are called corrupted.

Some of those who do not know God claim they do. However, their actions deny him. The key thought that comes to mind for me is that if our lives do not resemble a person who knows God, do we? Of course, we all slip at times; everyone makes mistakes. But this passage is a clear call to make sure we really know God. How do we know for sure?

A changed heart will lead to a changed life. If we have truly been transformed by the grace of God found in Jesus Christ, our lives will be different. This much is clear.

God calls us to be changed. That’s step one. After that, we are called to be pure. If there’s anything “corrupt” in your life that needs removed, begin the hard work of removing it today. This is one area that doesn’t need debate or a committee; just action. Live what you claim to believe. Live pure.
