Romans 11: Worship Is the Result of Right Belief

Romans 11: Worship Is the Result of Right Belief 2011-06-29T06:39:03-04:00 Dillon Burroughs

LOGO Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.

In Romans 11, we find the conclusion to Paul’s first half of his letter that focuses on the theology or beliefs of early Christianity. What surprises me is that the conclusion is not an academic summary; it is a response of worship. The text reads:

33 Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable his judgments,
and his paths beyond tracing out!
34 “Who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has been his counselor?”
35 “Who has ever given to God,
that God should repay them?”
36 For from him and through him and for him are all things.
To him be the glory forever! Amen.

When we discover the truth of God, worship is the result. We do not complain or doubt; we bow and honor Christ. Any theology that does not lead to humble worship of God is bad theology.
