It should be seen as a major concern that not only is the combined wealth of Trump’s cabinet picks in excess of fourteen billion dollars, such a net worth can be shown to be greater than the combined wealth of one third of the nation.

While it can be said that many, if not most, politicians are wealthy, and many if not most, of those in the recent past who have held a cabinet position are well-to-do, the problem has only become exponentially under Trump. Speeding is bad, but someone who is speeding only ten miles an hour over the speed limit is of no comparison to someone speeding over a hundred miles an hour over the same speed limit.

The United States clearly has been a plutocracy for some time, but now it seems the restraints have been taken off.

They would be less if Trump’s picks had a real interest and desire to help the poor and needy of the nation before coming into office, but instead, they have constantly demonstrated a desire to increase their net worth at the expense of those beneath them, exploiting the poor instead of giving them respite for their hard labor and consideration for their basic needs. While this would be bad for most cabinet positions, it is even worse when we find this is exactly the spirit of Andrew Puzder, the man Trump wants as Labor Secretary. It is all to readily apparent the chief concern of the new administration is to find a way  to use the government to help make profit for the extreme rich while lessening all the regulations which have been put in place to make sure laborers receive fairer treatment from their bosses.[1]

Is it any wonder Trump seems interested in pushing his cabinet picks through without proper vetting (while, of course, he is more than willing to make “extreme vetting” the norm for those suffering persecution and looking for refuge in the United States)? He is willing to demand of others, those already poor and oppressed, those who will have little to no voice or power to affect things, what he says he and his friends and associates should not have to face.

Such hypocrisy should not go unnoticed.

There is something very evil afoot, and those of good will, Christian and non-Christian alike, should stand forth and demand Trump and his allies receive “extreme vetting” before being given power. There should be no shrugging or looking away when the plutocracy coming forth is likely to break the nation and leave many destitute if not dead in its wake. Christians should see avarice is at work, and having read Scripture, they should know when a nation embraces such avarice at the expense of its citizens, that nation is heading towards its doom.
