More California churches announce defiance of state, local orders
Last updated on: May 11, 2020 at 9:00 am By Bethany Blankley
California entered phase 2 of its reopening plan Friday, but that excluded houses of worship being able to hold in-person services. Regardless, several thousand church leaders say they plan to reopen by May 31 no matter what the governor says. California Church United, a network of 3,000 California churches, representing 2.5 million members, announced it plans to open May 31, instead of waiting until the state implements phase 3, which includes allowing modified reopening of houses of worship. Many churches... Read more

Facebook removes Army chaplains’ video messages of encouragement and prayer
Last updated on: April 24, 2020 at 6:10 pm By Bethany Blankley
Facebook has been censoring for a while, no longer allowing free speech, and targeting Christians specifically. This time, they took down U.S. Army chaplain’s messages of encouragement to viewers. Four recent videos involving chaplains posting messages were taken down after a complaint was filed stating that the messages ironically violated the First Amendment, the very amendment that protects such speech. Cpt. Amy Smith and Maj. Scott Ingram posted messages on Facebook page for the Army’s 10th Mountain Division Sustainment Brigade... Read more

Last updated on: April 23, 2020 at 7:38 pm By Bethany Blankley
A new guidance issued by the Texas Attorney General’s Office says that local and county orders cannot prohibit religious organizations from holding in-person worship services. While churches were prohibited from holding services on Good Friday and Easter Sunday, Muslims will not be prohibited from gathering for one of their most important holidays, Ramadan, which begins on Friday. Judges in Dallas and Harris counties prohibited houses of worship from congregating after Gov. Greg Abbott’s initial executive order mandated that they hold... Read more

Pastor Steve Riggle who leads Grace Community Church in the Woodlands, a suburb north of Houston, posted a video message on Facebook, telling Governor Greg Abbott and state officials, “It’s time to reopen Texas. We have been patient, even though every projection of the impact of the coronavirus has been grossly wrong.” “We were told to flatten the curve because there was no cure, even though a very small number actually die from the virus in comparison with the population... Last updated on: April 15, 2020 at 9:13 am By Bethany Blankley
Representative Ted Budd, R-N.C., introduced the Equal Treatment of Faith-Based Organizations Act with 21 House members to codify a federal rule proposed by the Trump administration last month prior to the coronavirus shutdown. The federal rule change proposed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to “Ensuring Equal Treatment of Faith-Based Organizations,” would remove regulatory burdens on faith-based organizations. The bill reverses an Obama-era policy that only required faith-based providers of social services – not secular providers... Read more
