When We Wander from His Flock

The clock on the microwave reads 5:37 am. I am waiting for my coffee to brew.

Beside the coffee pot is this massive ceramic mug, with colors that move from light tan to dark brown at the bottom.  It’s like something my Grandfather would use for his coffee, too. When I’m holding it, I can take on the world.

The coffee is finally ready. As I pour it, I see a little blue booster seat with a yellow buckle for my little boy beside a pink, white, and brown lovey blanket belonging to my infant girl.  To my left is a bouncy seat, a pink baby swing, a breast pump, and a stack of ribbons and bows, remnants of my wife’s latest project.

I smile.

Each item belongs to the people who make my life worth every second.

Today, I’m over at Venn Magazine, talking about what must happen to God’s heart when we wander from His flock.
