Trump Christians: don’t let yourselves be dumbed down

Trump Christians: don’t let yourselves be dumbed down 2020-10-28T13:30:46-04:00 Kathryn Shihadah

Let’s be honest here. The partnership between Trump and Christians is problematic. It gives new level of meaning to the phrase “opposites attract.”

Christians who support Trump have aligned with a guy who is the opposite of Jesus; Trump has to indulge a crowd that are the opposite of his type of folks. It’s unnatural.

As I’ve said before, Trump needed you to get elected in 2016, and you needed him to get the Supreme Court. You delivered for him in 2016, and he delivered for you with the appointment of Amy Coney Barrett. You got Jerusalem too. You don’t need him anymore.

So now, not only is he using you to get re-elected, he’s making you look kinda…well, stupid. I don’t think you’re stupid, but he does. Look at the rhetoric he’s expecting you to believe.

Trump claims that Biden will:

You’re not gullible enough to believe this. These are all lies or oversimplifications, easily verifiable.

Maybe, maybe Russia or China wants to do bad things to America, but Biden and roughly half of American voters don’t.

Conservative Christians, you must know that the Republican Party doesn’t have a monopoly on love for our country.

Democrats don’t want to “destroy” America or get rid of God. They wouldn’t turn America into some Socialist dystopia. They would do things differently, yes. But they would not do what Trump is saying.

You must know that Biden would not get rid of cows and windows and air conditioners and suburbs and jobs and law enforcement. He’s not stupid or evil.

But if you stick with Trump when he says these things, you come off looking simple-minded. Trump thinks you’ll believe it all and vote for him. He thinks you’ve really fallen for his fake religiosity – when in reality you’ve just been holding your nose till he gave you your court.

You have what you need to overturn Roe v. Wade. You may now abandon ship.

(If you’re still worried about killing babies, the GOP has been oversimplifying that too. Please read some of these posts: here, here, here, here, and here.)

I’ll be the first to admit, Joe Biden is no prize. But at least he’s no Trump.
