BLOG NEWS: Cranach is #8!
Last updated on: August 7, 2024 at 7:44 am By Gene Veith
Adrian Warnock has devised a set of criteria for Christian blogs and has asked the Artificial Intelligence application ChatGPT to apply them and to rank the blogs accordingly. Cranach came in at #8! (Other Patheos blogs also did well.) He has also designed a widget that gives brief summaries of what the top blogs are posting about. Read more

“The Last Supper on the Stage on the Seine”
Last updated on: July 29, 2024 at 2:18 pm By Gene Veith
Christians around the world have been offended by the opening ceremony at the Paris Olympics, which included drag queens and voguing gays in a tableau that appeared to be a mockery of Leonardo Da Vinci's depiction of Christ at His Last Supper. Defenders claim it's just a scene from Greek mythology. But the very title of the performance refers to Holy Communion! Read more

BLOG NEWS: On Disqus and the Banned Words
Last updated on: July 31, 2024 at 2:07 pm By Gene Veith
This blog encourages discussion. Comments in Patheos blogs are not nearly so obscene as in other sites because of the Disqus commenting software, with its extensive list of banned words, some of which are quite innocent. Cranach subscribers have been complaining about this, so I had a productive exchange with the Patheos editor. I reported on that, BUT MY COMMENT WAS BANNED! So I give it here for all to see. The Conspiracy to Hide Biden
Last updated on: July 22, 2024 at 3:11 pm By Gene Veith
Have we had a functional president over the last few years? Or has the Executive Branch been led by an unelected committee that has conspired to keep the ailing Joe Biden hidden--not only from the public but from the rest of the government--while they ran the show? A Wall Street Journal investigation describes a conspiracy to hide an incapacitated president. Read more

A Catholic Shift from Transubstantiation to Real Presence?
Last updated on: July 26, 2024 at 6:40 am By Gene Veith
Surveys have shown that only a third of Catholics believe that the bread and wine in Holy Communion "become" Christ's body and blood, as taught by the church's official doctrine of transubstantiation. But two-thirds do believe in the "real presence." Is a Protestantizing shift going on? Read more
