Prayer Request

Last updated on: January 31, 2011 at 2:06 pm   By Sarah Babbs

I have a special prayer request. A friend of a friend is scheduled for an abortion at the end of the week. Pray that she will change her mind and choose life, and that she will be given the support she needs for that choice. Thank you for your prayers! Read more

7 Quick Takes

Last updated on: January 28, 2011 at 7:07 pm   By Sarah Babbs

Maggie is one month old. I’m both shocked at how fast its gone, and also feel like each day lasts a week. In the interest of being brutally honest, some of my new motherhood takes are…just that, brutally honest. ** 1** Maggie had her frenectomy yesterday. The doctor clipped it; it took about a minute and she went right back to sleep afterward. She was a trooper. I haven’t noticed a difference yet, but it takes about a week.... Read more

If we accept that the mother can kill her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another? Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love, but to use any violence to get what it wants.   -Mother Teresa Read more

Lest it go unspoken

Last updated on: January 19, 2011 at 11:53 pm   By Sarah Babbs

Welcome Morning There is joy in all: in the hair I brush each morning, in the Cannon towel, newly washed, that I rub my body with each morning, in the chapel of eggs I cook each morning, in the outcry from the kettle that heats my coffee each morning, in the spoon and the chair that cry “hello there, Anne” each morning, in the godhead of the table that I set my silver, plate, cup upon each morning. All this... Read more

The true time of year

Last updated on: January 17, 2011 at 12:23 am   By Sarah Babbs

Maggie sleeping in her swing this week   i love you much(most beautiful darling) more than anyone on earth and i like you better than everything in the sky – sunlight and singing welcome your coming although winter may be everywhere with such a silence and such a darkness no one can begin to guess (except my life)the true time of year – and if what calls itself a world should have the luck to hear such singing(or glimpse such... Read more

7 Quick Takes — Post Partum Edition

Last updated on: January 14, 2011 at 8:29 pm   By Sarah Babbs

*** 1 *** Maggie is two weeks and three days old! So much has happened since December 28; it feels like it was five months ago. She had a weight check on Monday, and she was back to her birth weight (plus 1 oz.) so I am feeling less apprehensive about her getting enough to eat. Her little cheeks are starting to fill out and get so cute! *** 2 *** Today I went to a local La Leche... Read more

Labor of Love

Last updated on: January 10, 2011 at 9:53 pm   By Sarah Babbs

On December 27th, we arrived at the hospital at 10 am, ready to start the induction process. I was feeling nervous, but excited to get going with bringing our baby into the world. We got settled in our room; it was me, Atticus, and Glo, a family friend who has known me since my mom was pregnant with me! I wanted her to be here for the baby’s birth, so she came out from Pennsylvania to be here, and I’m... Read more

Breastfeeding Sucks…

Last updated on: January 6, 2011 at 2:53 pm   By Sarah Babbs

literally. I was in the middle of typing up the birth story, which, trust me, is a good one. I hoped to finish it when I sat down today to write, but I think it’ll have to wait for another day. Though Maggie is only 9 days old, it seems like her birth was about five years ago. I’m not even thinking of it much these days. All I think about is feeding her. I don’t even want to write... Read more
