Notoriously, Donald Trump refused to release his tax returns in spite of the incredible public pressure to do so.

Then, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow announced that she somehow got her hands on at least a portion of his 2005 release:

What we’ve got is from 2005… the President’s 1040 form… details to come tonight 9PM ET, MSNBC.

— Rachel Maddow MSNBC (@maddow) March 15, 2017

Everyone seemed to turn in to hear what she had to say.  Turns out, “what she had to say” was a bunch of nothing.  She rambled about all kinds of topics — explaining to Americans why this was such a big deal.  Twitter was not kind, likening her to Geraldo’s disappointing reveal of Al Capone’s vault.

Why won’t Rachel Maddow release Donald Trump’s tax returns? What’s she hiding?

Can I assume @maddow was insulated from the onslaught of tweets during the biggest media failure in the history of breaking news?

Let’s sum up the show: Conspiracy theories. Trump’s rich. More conspiracy theories. I might switch back to the Pelicans game.
