LOGO Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.

I met Nadia one morning over early coffee. I saw the tattoos and wondered who this was.

Later that day I heard Nadia speak about liturgy.

How did that voice, the voice of patristic ancient liturgical tradition come out of this tall tattooed lady?

Patristics– the study of the Early Christian writers that are designated Church Fathers — love of liturgy and tattoos???

So WHO is Nadia, where did this person come from? What on earth..?

Now comes the glowing, gleeful answer: Pastrix! This is also the answer to the old question that still haunts too many religious people: Do women belong in the pulpit?

Nadia’s book, not to mention Nadia, is the answer. She writes calculatingly and beautifully. This is a book that is good and does the reader good. A glimpse into Nadia’s life is another way to say grace. In this case, amazing Grace. http://www.amazon.com/Pastrix-Cranky-Beautiful-Faith-Sinner/dp/1455527084

Nadia Bolz-Weber takes no prisoners as she reclaims the term “pastrix”(pronounced “pas-triks,” a term used by some Christians who refuse to recognize female pastors) in her messy, beautiful, prayer-and-profanity laden narrative about an unconventional life of faith.
