Creation Care Fall Photo Contest Winners! 2012-11-21T16:02:00-05:00 Alexei Laushkin

LOGO Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.

1st Place Winner- Linda Horton

I was driving my car in the Northwoods of Kodadjo, Maine on a beautiful fall day on vacation.I  came across this beautiful natural cross and realized that in Creation you find God’s love, forgiveness, mercy and justice in any season.

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener” (John 15:1, NIV).

2nd Place Winner- Rachel Whitten

When I see the golden aspens of Colorado each autumn, they whisper to me what heaven must be like – a sparkling Eden, restored, with streets of gold.

3rd Place Winner- Valerie Comer

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1).

Honorable Mention- Barbara Louise

The Dawson Ridge photo was taken on a trip up to the ridge. We go up there both in the summer to pick huckleberries and also in the fall to cut our firewood. The views up there are breathtaking. The plants of the earth are bedding down to rest for the winter so they can bring forth nourishment for the earth in the Spring.

Honorable Mention- Randy Martin

You can’t always see where you are going, but the Lord lights the path along the way.

Honorable Mention- Brian Reenders

Our Creator loves us and wants to be with us.  We have joy finding life from God in every season.

“I have come that they might have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10).

Honorable Mention- Laura Lee

This photo of a pumpkin reminds me of how God has lovingly filled the earth with plentiful harvest. Pumpkins are iconic of autumn, and give me warm feelings when I think about Thanksgiving- the day we thank our creation for his bountiful blessings. The vibrant orange and the little ice crystals give this pumpkin a unique harvest-season character.

The 1st place winner will receive a signed copy of one of John Stott’s books. The 2nd place winner will receive a signed copy of Global Warming & The Risen Lord by Jim Ball. The 3rd place winner will receive a signed copy of Green Revolution by Ben Lowe. All honorable mentions will receive a complimentary copy of Matthew Sleeth’s latest book 24/6. Congrats to all the winners!
