Christians must reject Donald Trump

A lying, unprincipled, unrepentant criminal who stole from his charity, his contractors, and creditors, Trump has no moral compass. He embodies everything evil and everything Evangelical Christians warned against for 60 years.

Evangelicals told us not to support Bill Clinton because of his sexual immorality, saying repeatedly that character matters. Trump is everything immoral about Clinton, cubed, and Trump apologists continue to support him.

He’s assaulted women and bragged about it. He has been fined more money than most of us can imagine. He faces federal charges of attacking American democracy and his only hope of evading a conviction is to be elected president and ordering the Department of Justice to stop prosecuting him.

Christians must reject Donald Trump.

Incapable of quoting a single word from Jesus or a single book of the Bible, Trump is anti-Christ in every way possible. To support Trump is to deny everything the Bible says.

In private, Trump mocks his Christian supporters.

With the morality of Roman oppressors and not loving Christians, the Trump administration separated thousands of children from their families and thousands have not been reunited. His defenders claim the horrible policy originated with Obama. Even if that lie were true, Trump continued the policy for years before public outcry stopped it.

Trump’s campaign is pledging to create massive holding facilities to roundup tens of thousands of immigrants. If elected, Trump intends to destroy thousands of families. Christians cannot defend this immoral policy.

Trump supported Nazis and racists in the streets of Charlottesville in 2017. Even if you defend Trump and claim he isn’t a racist, people who are racists believe Trump is racist.

Moral Christians in the Republican party had the opportunity to nominate a candidate who would have delivered the same Republican policies and judges, but without the chaos, overt bigotry and criminality. The Republican party could have selected someone with an ounce of morality during the primaries, but instead they selected a lying, cheating, criminal.

Christians who support Trump and his daily barrage of lies are hypocrites who can only support him by ignoring and forsaking Christ. To be raised in a Bible-believing church and accept the immorality and illegality of Trump requires unimaginable self-delusion.

American Christians have allowed themselves to be bamboozled and they need to ask themselves why. Because the choice is clear – Christian morality or Trump’s immorality.

Christ or Trump, you can’t follow both.
