Imagine a scholar dedicating a lifetime of study to an ancient, Middle Eastern tradition. The ancient history and practices would be dissected and discussed, prodded and explored, all from the safety of thousands of miles and years away. Too many American Christians believe they are living the ancient tradition, while most aren’t even experiencing it vicariously through experts. They are little more than recreating shadows.

The Protestant Reformation came about, in part, because printing presses allowed for the wide distribution of Bibles, and then people were able to read for themselves that the things the priest told them were in the Bible, weren’t actually in the Bible, (indulgences and purgatory, for examples.) We live in a time when everyone has access to the Bible, but too many choose to ignore the Bible and believe unbiblical lies told by phony Christians. “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires.” (2 Timothy 4:3)

Some self-described ‘christians’ claim President Barrack Obama wasn’t a Christian, despite him affirming that he was while he quoted scripture, then they claim President Donald Trump is Christian with absolutely no proof at all.

Trump supporters DENY the word of God, and reject the teaching of Jesus.
They can claim to be Christians, but they don’t actually live the Christian life.
Rather than change their beliefs or behavior to reflect the teaching of Jesus, they simply ignore the parts of the Bible they don’t like.
The ‘god’ they worship isn’t the God of Jesus Christ.

The path of Jesus is not the path of millionaires. The way to Jesus is the path walked by the poor, the homeless, and the migrant. Each of us must choose a side — the side of the rich or the side of the poor. Jesus is always on the side of the poor. Always.
