Franklin Graham is doubling down on supporting evil.

Make no mistake Graham is on the side of evil when he supports Donald Trump.

Donald Trump is far beyond the conservative politics of your grandfather’s Grand Old Party.

He is undercutting the greatest allies of the United States economically and politically. Trump supports dictators and murderous despots. Trump policies systematically attack the civil rights of minorities and the marginalized. Trump policy demands a 17 year-old girl must deliver her rapist’s child but refuses to provide her basic healthcare.

Trump policy deports veterans who served in the U.S. military and puts refugee children in cages. Children in cages. Sleeping outside, on the ground, while in the custody of the federal government.

Trump and his policies are evil. Hateful evil.

"Like an unchecked cancer, hate corrodes the personality and east away its vital unity. Hate destroys a man's sense of values and his objectivity. It causes him to describe the beautify as ugly and the ugly as beautiful, and to confuse the true with the false and the false with the true." -- Martin Luther King, Jr.

Into the moral abyss that is Trump, Christian evangelicals are holding a special “Day of Prayer.”

Christ tells us to help and defend the weak, children, the sick, the suffering and the poor. Christ compels us to see the face of God in the face of others.

People calling themselves Christians are not praying for Trump to repent and turn from evil. They aren’t demanding public policies that help others. They approve of Trump and are prayer that he does more.

Led by life-long opportunist Franklin Graham, they are defending Trump, asking God to “protect, strengthen, embolden, and direct him.” They pray “that God will bless our president and our nation for His glory.”

This slap in the face of the Christ Child is harder than any blow from a Roman soldier. Jesus was literally a victim of the government. Jesus is on the side of the child in a cage, not the government caging the child.

Graham’s support of evil is endorsed by hundreds of self-described “Christian leaders,” including,

“President Trump’s enemies continue to try everything to destroy him, his family, and the presidency. In the history of our country, no president has been attacked as he has. I believe the only hope for him, and this nation, is God,” Graham wrote, oblivious to the deaths of Presidents Lincoln, Garfield and Kennedy.

“This is a critical time for America,” Graham continued. “We’re on the edge of a precipice. Time is short. We need to pray for God to intervene. We need to ask God to protect, strengthen, encourage, and guide the President.”

They are not following Christ.

They are following evil.

The only praying these people should be doing is to the Lord Almighty to spare Trump from the Hell they claim is waiting to punish Christians who disagree with them.

In his Facebook post, Graham cites scripture: “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” — Ephesians 6:12

The irony is blinding.

The Trump administration is the principality. Trump is the power. Trump policies are the darkness of this age. Hosting Trump is literally hosting wickedness.

Good-hearted people may continue to support Graham and others who claim to be Christian, (I supported Samaritan’s Purse financially for a few years after my baptism.) but they are missing the stark, obvious truth.

The President of the United States is evil and applies evil policies. Supporting evil is evil. There is no way to legitimately support Trump or his supporters.

Anti-people policies are anti-God.

Anti-people theology is anti-God.

At the most basic, they ignore Jesus telling them to help children and they support a person who hurts children.

Let us pray to God they repent.
