In 2019, Will You Look Back or Look Forward?

In the coming year, will you look back towards the past, or towards the future?

Will you stop thinking about the “might have been” and the “never was,” and set your course towards what will be?

It’s easy to get caught up looking backwards when we ought to look forward.

The Roman god Janus was the god of gates, halls, doors, and doorways.
The god of beginnings and endings.
Usually depicted with two faces looking in opposite directions, Janus frequently symbolized change and transitions, such as the progression of past to future, of one condition to another, of one vision to another. He was also known as the figure representing time because he could see into the past with one face and into the future with the other.
This is where the month of January gets its name.
In the thin place between years, we often stop and reflect upon the year gone by and consider the year to come.

In the coming months, I encourage you to think less about the coming months.

We can learn from our past, but we can’t live there. We can plan for our future, but we won’t prosper there.

We have memories and we have hopes, but in reality, all we really have is the present moment.

Time, like January and calendars and watches, is a human-made concept; a construct designed to give a sense of control over the uncontrollable power of Creation.

There is no such thing as time or days or years or months.

There is only now and living in the present moment. The eternal present.

The Creator is now, always was and forever will be. Just as energy and our spirits always will be.

The Universe is ever-expanding as our Sun is ever-consuming itself and giving life.

Our massive Earth moves and the tides are forever in motion, like God who is becoming that which God is becoming. Every moment, we can become what we are supposed to be, when we plug into what’s important and connect with the One who created us.

Keep moving forward.

Live in the ever-present now.
