Peer pressure cuts both ways.  It’s not always a bad thing.  In fact, under the right circumstances, it can be an incredible force for good.  For example…

Good grades could be contagious.

Students surrounded by friends who earn better grades than they do tend to see their own grades rise over the next year, according to a new study.

“The smarter that your friends are today, there’s a higher chance for you to become smarter as well tomorrow,” said study co-author Hiroko Sayama, a systems scientist at the State University of New York in Binghamton.  MORE

As Catholics, we don’t believe that we are individuals so much as we are a “communion of persons.”  Like the Trinity, in whose image we are made, each of us is our own person, but we are intimately connected to one another. Whatever we do inevitably affects everyone else around us for good or ill whether we intend it to or not.

What impact do you think your behavior and attitudes are having on others today?  Is it what you would like it to be?
