This Democratic presidential campaign passed the point of civility a long time ago.  It’s time for the DNC and party elders to decide to stand on principle.

At a certain point, it no longer becomes Senator Clinton alone who is responsible for the affront that is occurring to our national conscience; it’s now the party elders and the insiders who are jointly to blame for the perpetuation of the divisive brand of politics shown by the Clintons. I hesitate to make the analogy of a parent who sits by idly by while the first born child resents the new edition simply for existing and then acts on that resentment, because the parties involved are peers, but that is what this reminds me of. Senator Clinton skipped negative politics and went right for the throat before the first contest in Iowa even began. Even though far behind in national polls from the beginning, Senator Obama never became indignant nor did he involve himself in smearing his opponent.

Senator Obama probably would have won Texas had it been just between him and Senator Clinton. However, leading up to March 4th, the media, the Republican Party, Rush Limbaugh and Clinton Democrats all converged on Senator Obama to bring him down. Senator Obama is accused of no wrong doing, but the media chose to engage in propagating innuendo about the Rezkco case. The media chose to ignore the Peter Paul case against the Clintons – “California Superior Court Judge Aurelio N. Munoz ruled Peter Paul's legal team can begin seeking depositions from a host of big names – including Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton– that allegedly were witnesses to an effort by the Clintons and top Democratic leaders to extract millions of dollars from Paul in illegal donations and then cover it up. Paul claims former Vice President Al Gore, former Democratic Party chairman Ed Rendell and Clinton presidential campaign chairman Terry McAuliffe also are among the people who can confirm Paul engaged in a deal with the president…Paul contends his case will expose "the institutional culture of corruption embraced by the Clinton leadership of the Democratic Party," which seeks to attain "unaccountable power for the Clintons at the expense of the rule of law and respect for the constitutional processes of government."

Is this the type of government so many fought and died for? Has the United States of America been reduced to a government of cover-ups, media manipulation and lies? I don’t know the Democratic Party anymore. Who are you? You need to pick up your cross and do what’s needed? “This party – the party of Jefferson and Jackson; of Roosevelt and Kennedy – has always made the biggest difference in the lives of the American people when we led, not by polls, but by principle; not by calculation, but by conviction; when we summoned the entire nation to a common purpose – a higher purpose.  And I run for the Presidency of the United States of America because that's the party America needs us to be right now.” Barack Obama

Smearing Senator Obama was part of a campaign strategy from the beginning. The media floated the idea that the smearing being done was oblivious to Senator Clinton. They theorized that surrogates could be acting independently. I believe Democratic Party members knew this was part of their strategy; and because they failed to act, the smearing continues to this day. Senator Clinton realized early on that her only chance to win was to go negative. She knew she couldn’t motivate or inspire the public like Senator Obama, as a consequence her best chance to win was to damage, stain, and tarnish Barack Obama. Senator Clinton’s plan was to make the campaign as dirty as possible, even to the point of turning off a few of her own voters in order to take away Senator Obama’s advantage with new and young voters. These particular voters were cynical toward politics in the past and in my mind, Senator Clinton figured reinforcing that cynicism would turn them away again.
