My faith was

challenged when my older sister was diagnosed with lupus, and I began
to question my own relationship with God.
With each setback, I wondered why this was happening to my
sister and my family.  After years of fighting, she finally
succumbed to the disease.

Robert Rodriguez is running for Congress in California's 25th district.

D(["mb"," One expression of hope in scripture is found in Matthews 5:14, "You are the light of the world.n A city set upon a hill cannot be hid." Inbelieve that this religious ideal of hope, change, and building anbetter future together is one that resonates in the political sphere.n Our country was founded upon the hope that Democracy could work. The civil rights movement began with the hope that equality would someday become reality.n I believe that each person and our nation asna whole must strive to fulfill its promise as something bigger andnbetter than itself. This is the foundation of the American Dream – the ideal that with hard work, we can achieve our best hopes.n

Right now, our country is moving away from the ideal of the American Dream. America is not living up to its contract with working class Americans, and there is nowhere to hide.n Every day Americans are working harder, and watching their real wages drop while CEOs wages rise. Working parents wake up every day hoping that their children won’t get sick because their health benefits have been cut.n At the same time, oil and drug companies make record profits from tax-payer funded subsidies. Our current political leaders must be held accountable.n We can do better.

We must inspire hope to America and to every American. Together, we can change the way Washington does business. I hope that you will join me in my vision for a better tomorrow.n
