LOGO Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.

If your name is in your website, you’d better be good!  That’s how I feel about the site Barbara Friedberg Personal Finance.  Not only does she know about personal finance and economics, she can apply them in ways that are easy to understand.

When you visit her site, you’ll see one of her tabs that say “Action Steps,” which is one of the things that sets her site apart from others.  Barbara is always giving practical ways to implement financial strategies and her ebook 20 Minute Guide to Investing is a perfect example of how she simplifies subjects so that it’s easier to digest.

Oh..and she’s giving away 2 $25 Amazon gift cards, so check out her site for this giveaway.

Be sure to check out some of her most popular articles after you read through her feature:

Why did you start your blog?

February, 2010. After shopping a personal finance book proposal around, all the publishers said I needed my own audience, so I started the blog. Now I’m thinking, why should I pay a publisher to publish my books. I have an audience and I can publish them myself.

Of course my first one, 20 Minute Guide to Investing is a FREE eBook at http://barbarafriedbergpersonalfinance.com (top right of site).

If you could give one piece of advice to someone getting out of debt, what would it be?

DO NOT AVOID REALITY. Start NOW and write down every single creditor, how much you owe, minimum payment and date due.

Then, pay more than the minimum on at least one debt!

Do you have a favorite quote about money?

“A penny saved is a penny earned.” I’m a huge fan of saving.

What are your goals for your site in the next year?

At least one new book, 20 Minute Guide to Personal Finance for the New College Grad.

Several guest articles on major market sites.

Create a monthly newsletter with MONEY TIPS in bite sized nuggets!

Besides blogging, what do you like to do for fun?

I am a decorating addict, I love HGTV!! And of course, I am passionate about spending time doing fun stuff with my hubby!

Give us 2 Truths and a 1 lie about yourself – something interesting, serious, or fun.

(We’ll reveal the lie at the end of the article)

1. I’m 32 years old.

2. I speak Spanish

3. I was a lifeguard in college.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

Why does everyone ask this? :) I have no idea!

What’s the latest book you’ve read?  Any favorite books you’d recommend?

I am in the midst of Malcolm Gladwell’s Blink. It is incredible. I love books that make me think and challenge my life perspective. A must read for anyone who thinks “snap decisions” are bad.

Do you have a favorite comic strip?

I love Dilbert. I have the daily Dilbert calendar with a comic strip for each day. (Bought in February for a buck :))

Thanks for letting us get to know you a little better, Barb!  If you guessed that #1 was the lie…you are correct.  Be sure to say hi to Barbara in the comments and visit her site to enter her giveaway.
