“Diva of the Day”

LOGO Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.

After my last blog, I felt so heavy-hearted.  I came home from Panera & got on the couch and cried my little eyes out.  I think processing all of that proved to somewhat cathartic.  I just had this overwhelming sense of love for this new baby whether it’s boy, girl, blind, deformed, pink, purple or polka-dot.  So, I’m ready for whatever comes my way tomorrow morning!  I think if I cry it will be tears of joy.  I really do love this baby this much.

Thankfully, something else has been keeping me from counting down the hours and minutes until the ultrasound.  An old friend from my hood in Detroit is now a radio show personality and is interviewing me for her show.  Thank the Lord it’s going to pre-recorded so I can be free to be the goof that I am and she can just edit me to perfection. 😉  When she asked me what I wanted to talk about, she said its up to me.  She said she wanted to me to feel like the diva for the day.  How fun, right?

Well, with any new thing I try, just like preaching at the Chinese Church last week, I feel really nervous.  Jeez, I’ve never been on the radio before, let alone being the only & primary guest.  It’s like, “wait, what, who am I again?” 🙂  So, I’m going to talk a little about 2 things: 1)my work with InterVarsity & 2) the book I’m working on.  I may bring up the blog & that I do speaking engagements but again it just feels so weird to be like, well, promoting myself in an outright fashion.

I guess I prefer keeping my self-promotion on the downlow. 🙂  However, as she helpfully reminded me, anyone with a decent selling book MUST do self-promotion & radio spots are a great way to do that.  I guess I’d concur if I had a finished book to promote.  I.E. “well, it should be done in awhile & well, I’m hoping to get a publisher, etc.”  The more I think about it, the more I feel like a giant dufus so I should just stop.  I am, however, super thankful to get the opportunity to get InterVarsity’s name out there for all the college students in Atlanta.  It’s too great an organization to be known by so few.

Anyway, it will air in Atlanta this Saturday June 6th, on 1570am “The Light” at 4:45pm to 5:15pm. And if you really want to hear but don’t live in the A-T-L it will be available online at www.wigoam.com

If your following along at home…my interview is tomorrow morning just after my ultra-sound, so I’ll send two quick twitters.  One with the sex of the baby & one to say how the interview went.  What a fun day, right? 🙂  I hope I can sleep tonight!
