Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.
I just realized that this month it is 20 years since I became a follower of Jesus. So I’m a bit nostalgic at the moment. 20 years of following the Jesus who loved me and gave himself for me. 20 years of being part of the household of faith. 20 years since my adoption as a son of the king. 20 years of knowing God as a loving Father, the Spirit my comforter, and Christ my brother. 20 years of grace richer than thanksgiving gravy and mercy more wondrous than mardi gra.
Yep, back in August of 1994 I got me religion, and I got it good. My family thought it was just a fad I was into. Well after 20 years I think we can dispense with that idea cause I’m still in the race. May I be a Jesus freak all of my days, and then for an eternity afterwards. I’d still rather have the deep, deep love of Jesus any day of the week and twice on Sunday for all the gold, girls, and glory that this world has to offer. May I live like I mean it so!
If God so wills that I have another 20 years in this mortal coil to live in service to him, I pray that I would not merely be called a Christian, but prove to be one by my actions as a father, brother, son, husband, and lecturer.
I praise God for his faithfulness, the Spirit for his closeness, and Jesus for his goodness. I pray that I may know Christ, the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so somehow obtain the resurrection from the dead.
May the Lamb who was slain receive the glory he is due!
