Unity and Diversity in the Gospels and Paul: Essays in Honor of Frank J. Matera
Atlanta: SBL, 2012.
Available at Amazon.com

I first came across the work of Fr. Frank Matera while in seminary where I read extensively through Matera’s Ph.D thesis on The Kingship of Jesus: Composition Theology in Mark 15 as part of my honours thesis. I’ve also benefited immensely from his Galatians commentary (Sacra Pagina series). It is quite fitting then that a man who has served seminarians, academia, and the church should be honored with a festschrift on the Gospels and Paul (the two areas that Matera has worked in). The essays include:

Kelly R. Iverson
An Enemy of the Gospel? Anti-Paulinisms and Intertextuality in the Gospel of Matthew
Francis J. Moloney, S.D.B.
Matthew 5:17–18 and the Matthean Use of Δικαιοσύνη

Jack Dean Kingsbury
The Christology of Mark and the Son of Man

John R. Donahue, S.J.
The Lure of Wealth: Does Mark Have a Social Gospel?

Paul J. Achtemeier
Jesus and the Human Condition in Mark’s Gospel: Divine Grace and the Shattering of Human Illusions

William S. Kurz, S.J
Paul’s Witness to Biblical Monotheism as Isaiah’s Servant in Acts

John P. Meier
The Parable of the Wicked Tenants in the Vineyard: Is the Gospel of Thomas Independent of the Synoptics?

Matt Whitlock
From the Acts of the Apostles to Paul: Shaking of the Muffled Majesty of Impersonal Authorship

Michael J. Gorman
Cruciformity according to Jesus and Paul

A. Andrew Das
Galatians 3:10: A “Newer Perspective” on an Omitted Premise

Luke Timothy Johnson
The Body in Question: The Social Complexities of Resurrection

Sherri Brown
Faith, Christ, and Paul’s Theology of Salvation History

Raymond F. Collins
From Παρουσία to Ἐπιφάνεια: The Transformation of a Pauline Motif

Christopher W. Skinner
Virtue in the New Testament: The Legacies of Paul and John in Comparative Perspective

A good all-round collection of essays. I esp. liked the ones by Iverson, Kingsbury, Gorman, Das, and Brown.
