Hello Rumi Tuesday

We are from above, and up we’ll go.
We come from the sea, we’ll go to the sea.
We are not from here or from there.
We are from nowhere, to nowhere we’ll go.
We are Noah’s ark in the deluge of the soul.
Therefore, like a ship we’ll go without arms and legs.
Like a wave, we grow out of ourselves and
again we feast our eyes by immersing into ourselves.
The way to Truth is as narrow as the eye of a needle.
We slip through alone like a single thread.
You have read: “We return to Him.”
So you know where it is we are going.
Our star is not found in this universe.
We are bound to venture past the Milky Way.
O Words, stop. Do not come with us.
We are leaving even ourselves behind.
O Mountain of self-existence, stay out of the way.
We are on our way to Mount Qaf and the Anqa.

~ Jalal id-din Rumi,
translated by Dr. Iraj Anvar

The following was written by a participant in the online course, Poetry of the Sufi Mystics: Awaken Your Heart through the Language of Love. Benjamin said it was inspired by the great mystic poets and wisdom writers, but comes mainly from direct experience and knowing, al-hamdulillah. Brother, we are blessed by your creativity and generosity.

You are one little whirlpool
spinning out behind the oars of existence–

One brief vortex of delusion and identity,
soon to flatten out to the point

Where even an idea is not your property,
but rather a tiny square of cloth

Cut plainly by The Weaver of Intelligence.

With enough of those you could fashion a quilt
large enough to cover your entire shivering body. Imagine!

~ Benjamin B., participant in the course,
Poetry of the Sufi Mystics: Awaken Your Heart through the Language of Love.

Sufi-Webinars-Living-Peace

New Online Program begins January 31st.

We are blessed to live in “interesting times,” beyond the sublime order of angelic existence, and to seek the gifts that are hidden in the apparent uncertainty and chaos that periodically threaten to overwhelm us. This year’s federal election has blown away some comforting assumptions about where we stand, so this webinar series is a timely response to help us make sense of the challenges we face as a nation, an ummah, a community or family, and as all of humanity.
