Hello Rumi Tuesday

Tree consumes ruins 550x290

from The Root of the Root of Your Self

You are born of the children of God’s creation,

but you have fixed your sight too low.

How can you be happy?

Come, return to the root of the root of your Self.

~ Jalaludin Rumi

translated by Kabir Helminski, Love is a Stranger

The nature of the human being –

We walk around in dense bodies of clay,

doing our best to survive in this world.

How can we be happy?

By finding Truth, by finding our Selves.

This is what every human longs for inside.

Integrated into the density is a powerful Light.

This Light is manifest and reflected in every physical element.

We humans set our sights on the physical elements –

the physical of our selves and of the selves of others,

the physical of the planet and of nature,

the material of the man-made objects, the monetary symbols,

and the status and rank defined by humanity.

We cannot comprehend the truth of our existence

from a mental awareness or acquisition of the material.

We can’t find our Selves by looking at the clay,

but by looking for the Light that is reflected through the clay,

by looking for the Light that cast the shadow of the clay,

by recognizing the Life Force that lives through the density.

To find the Light, we must trace the path through the heart –

the heart whose emotions are guarded,

where the discomfort and pain of feelings

act as the gatekeeper to the inner Self.

The pain is only a perception of distance from the Self –

a yearning to return to be with the Self.

Release the fear of emotions,

and discover the yearning within the discomfort.

This is the gift.

Your yearning is what guides you along the trail

to the treasure of Love within you.

Follow your yearning for Love to find the jewels

of your existence.

Be willing to forgive the events and their stories

that brought you the pain.

Forgiveness is the key that reveals the path on the treasure map

and unlocks the treasure chest.

Remember the Light, forgive the density,

remember the Light, forgive the density,

remember the Light, forgive the density…

Step by step, this is how we walk the path.

With each step another veil is lifted

to reveal the root of the root of the Self –

the Essence of The One.
