Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.

This world is a world of multiplicity. In this reality, there is diversity, not equality.
We cannot claim to see each other as one, all the same, all equals. We are humans, and to claim sameness is to deny our humanity.
We strive for equality and unity in the realms of the spirit, but we live in a material world.
Can we claim to love unconditionally when we live in a conditional world?
Does an attempt to see each other as one deny the struggles and triumphs of our brothers and sisters of color who have not known the same privileges as the white men and women?
As seekers on the Sufi path, our focus is to purify the heart to clear the veils that cover over the truth in order to realize an existence of Unity in One God.
How can we honor the history and the challenges and successes of black Americans – the differences – and know the unity of our existence in One God?
The soul’s journey in this physical form is just that – to find the unity in the duality, to realize the unconditional love within a world of conditions.
We strive to bring peace, equality and justice, and to do so, we must face and expose the inequalities and injustice that exists – within the world and within ourselves.
The Sufi path gives us many tools to help us wash the heart so we can know the existence of God in all people and all things, and honor the divine existence within the duality – to know that everyone carries the same Essence of the One God.
As our teacher said many times, “Make no separation between any!”
This week’s discussion focuses more on the Sufi healing practices that we use to wash away the barriers that keep us in separation so that we can be the peace, equality and justice we wish to see in the world.

See you soon!
Most humans want a world of love and peace – the origin from which we were created.
To return to subsist in love and peace, we must heal the subconscious beliefs and pictures. It’s not enough to change the mind. Teaching the mind alone does not clear the imprints held in the body and energy field (the subconscious), which influence the majority of our actions.
In order to truly heal, we must wash away the pictures that are held in the body and cover over the divine truths that exist in the heart. The heart holds the pathway back to love and unity.
My colleague Shams Tara Wesley and I have been inspired by recent world events to offer a series of discussions and a framework for exploration and healing of the conscious and subconscious patterns that keep us in separation from each other and from love.
You’re invited to join us – right here on this very page.
This Wednesday, September 7, 2016, we will continue a dialog and exploration of what separates us brothers and sisters from each other. We’ll be using a process of exploration taught to Arun Gandhi by his grandfather, Mahatma Gandhi – you can learn more about that here. We’ll be teaching some ancient Sufi practices to help us wash our hearts and restore love and unity within ourselves and amongst our global family.
