Cutting a Mango, Emansplained

Last updated on: July 24, 2020 at 4:34 pm By Eman Ahmed

Hi folks. It’s been a couple weeks, and when a friend asked why I haven’t posted in a while, I responded that I don’t know what to write about. He says to me, “Not everyone is going to be profound. Or good. Just write something.” I love watching life hack videos. Some of them are ridiculous. I don’t think a glue gun will solve the world’s problems. But I watch hours and hours of them. They’re cheesy and some of... Read more

It started in October 2017 when my basement flooded. In hindsight, that was the beginning of the end. I lost everything that was dear to me: my husband, my job, my home and my sense of security. I only remember bits and pieces of that summer. The other bits and pieces I don’t really want to remember. It feels like my brain is protecting me from something awful. It must have been bad. These days some of those close to... Read more

My Secret Revealed and Updated

Last updated on: June 18, 2020 at 12:25 pm By Eman Ahmed

I didn’t want this to be my first post, but these days I have no control over much of anything, and I’m just going with the flow. On May 23rd, I did the thing that I never ever thought I would do, and reported my abuse to the police. My abuser was a relative, and as a 39 year old, I am outside of the statute of limitations, but I went anyway. The police told me, that they may not... Read more
