Being Faithful with the Gifts and Talents God’s Given YOU!
The need to feel appreciated and needed is quite common for most of us, but especially for moms. We pour ourselves out to our families all day. We often joke that our job is a thankless job.
Today on the podcast, we are talking to Lisa Lloyd about her new book, Chasing Famous. She talks about how it’s in our “human nature to want to be loved, affirmed, and accepted.” In other words, it’s normal. Yet, we often look for all these things in all the wrong places. Ultimately, God is the one who we should be running to for our approval. He loves us and created us to shine for His glory. He equipped each one of us to tell a story with our lives using the gifts that He’s given us — making Him “famous” in all we do. (bold that!)
I know you are going to be so encouraged by this episode. We went totally off topic from what we had planned. I think you are going to be so blessed that we did, too! We had even prayed before hand that God would lead the conversation…and He did.
On a “Simply” & “Joyful” side note…

In This Episode…
Today I have the honor of introduce you to Lisa Lloyd. She is so much fun to record with—you are really going to enjoy this episode.
In this episode Lisa and I chat about her book Chasing Famous: Living the Life You’ve Always Auditioned For . Lisa is a actress and writer, but her book is so important for us to discuss today because I think everyone out there has this desire to feel appreciated and needed and valued.
Lisa is a speaker, emcee, actor, and writer. Since receiving her bachelor of fine arts in theater from Southern Methodist University, Lisa has been featured in many major performance mediums. Her television credits include What Would You Do?, Prison Break, The Young and the Restless, and The Bold and the Beautiful. You may see her on television commercials, highway billboards, or TV screens at the local airport. She has performed with many theaters, including the Milwaukee Repertory Theater, Montana Shakespeare, the Dallas Theater Center, and Casa Mañana Theater. She is a highly sought-after speaker at women s retreats, conferences, and events across the country. She and her husband Markus live in McKinney, Texas, and have two boys.
Highlights from This Show…
- Lisa shares about the inspiration behind Chasing Famous. Lisa shares how it came about, the anxious feelings before an audition, and feeling God telling her that He wanted to make HIM famous.

- God showed me that it wasn’t just in my acting, but in my everyday life that I could make Him famous. – Lisa Lloyd
- We have to ask ourselves how can life be less about me and more about Him and therefore about other people. – Lisa Lloyd
- I wrote this book not because I have it figured out, but because God gave me a lot of material. Because he was really working hard on me. – Lisa Lloyd
- You look in the rearview mirror of life and you say, “Man, I’m glad God did that to me. (But please, let’s not do that again.)” – Lisa Lloyd
- I ask Lisa to share about some rejection (since she’s an actress) and how she’s learned to deal with it.
- It doesn’t really get easier, I’ve just learned that I need to trust God. – Lisa Lloyd
- The rejection isn’t so much about me. It’s often about many other factors. And you just have to remember that and trust the Lord. – Lisa Lloyd
- I ask Lisa to go more in depth on a story from her book where she and her friend tried out for the same part in a play – her friend ultimately god the part and Lisa only a side part.

- When we compare ourselves with others, often we’re saying to the Lord, “You’ve got it all wrong.” – Lisa Lloyd
- Embrace yourself and be grateful – Lisa Lloyd
- You need to be faithful to make Him famous where you’re at right now. – Lisa Lloyd

- Lisa shares her “God story” – and man is it a good one!
- Our stories are testimonies of when we allow God to move in our lives. Because Satan wants us to feel shame. – Kristi Clover
- It’s so important for the Church (Big “C”) to share the screw-up stories. There are so many Christians that are struggling, and the enemy wants you to think you can or need to keep it secret. But there are broken people just like them in the Church, too. What if the Church was the place people ran to? What if they ran to the Church because the Church was safe? – Lisa Lloyd

- We, as moms and dads, are the picture of Jesus until our kids decide to have a relationship with Him. – Kristi Clover
- Even as moms, we can use our gifts to impact the kingdom, even if it doesn’t’ look how we thought it would look. –Kristi Clover
- I ask Lisa how believers can discover their unique gifts that has been given to the m and how to best use them.
- Sometimes you just have to pay attention. – Lisa Lloyd
- I have big dreams and big goals – instead of getting discouraged on how big it is, I focus on the one thing I can start today. – Kristi Clover
- I ask Lisa to share bout when God asks us to do really hard things that kind of go against what we really wan to do ourselves.
- Trusting that my obedience despite the sacrifice is bringing a smile to God’s face – to bring glory to Him. – Lisa Lloyd
Do you need to be accountable to someone? As sinners saved by grace, accountability is so important.
