Everyone has a set of Mindset beliefs.

They may be positive, negative, optimistic, pessimistic, self-condemning, self-affirming, realistic, etc.

You get the picture – we all have them.

Do you know where your mindset beliefs come from?

Part of your mindset is derived from how you, individually, are wired by God. These are good, unique, inherent things.

Another influence is how you were raised. Now, I’m not here to beat up on your mom and dad, but it’s factually accurate that no parent is perfect. As parents, we inevitably pass down things to our kids that we don’t necessarily wish that we had. These are often unintentional, but nevertheless real mindsets. They can be in regards to finances, discipline, priorities, God, work ethic, etc.

Life experiences, both positive and negative, also play a part in influencing your Mindset beliefs.

But – and here’s the good news – your mindset believes CAN be changed!

I’m going to share 5 steps you can follow to get that process rolling.

And notice, it IS a process – a very difficult one you’ll have to commit yourself to.

And the greatest news is that you’re not alone in this task: Jesus is there to help you.

You can revamp your mindset by replacing your incorrect beliefs, systematically, with truth.

This video highlights 5 steps you can take to do exactly that.

  1. You need to recognize that you have a mindset that needs changing. You must humbly acknowledge that you have issues that need to be addressed. This can only come from honestly thinking about your mindset – your beliefs – and examine how you respond to things. Consider your overall view of life circumstances. Are you pessimistic? Optimistic? Generally positive? Negative? Are you a fearful person? Hopeful? You can also ask someone close to you to help get down to your personal nitty-gritty.

  2. Identify what your most predominant mindsets are. Do you have a mindset of hopefulness? Of fear, worry and anxiety? Do you have a mindset of self-condemnation or do you actually feel pretty good about yourself in terms of who God has made you to be?

  3. Commit yourself – and here’s where the process starts to get more difficult – to changing those mindsets with God’s help. No change will come about until you decide in your mind and heart that it is time for a change! For your good, for the good of your family, and for God’s glory, you need to change your mindset. You need to make your determination for change a priority and even make a project out of it. Set aside time, thought, and resources to it and focus on it for a distinct period of time, until it’s completed.

  4. Equip yourself to change your mindset. This is the part of the process that probably requires the most self-discipline and self-control. You need to fill your mind with truth to offset the untruth that you have been believing for years (which contributed to your old mindset). You can’t get this truth from wishful thinking or positive vibes. You need to take the facts in Scripture that God has said about you (truths like because you have your faith in Christ, you are more than a conqueror through Him).

  5. Talk to yourself the truth from the Bible. Theologian D. Martyn Lloyd Jones once said, “Have you realized that most of your unhappiness in life is due to the fact that you are listening to yourself instead of talking to yourself? In other words, all those negative, condemning thoughts that you run around with about yourself often convince you that you are less than what God has created you to be! You’ve got to begin talking to yourself abundant in Scriptural truth! Apply Bible verses to your life and begin saying them over and over. Write them out on a sticky note or 3×5 card so that you always have those truthful words in front of you. This way, when you begin to feel discouraged, you can pull out that card, read it, and speak that truth into your own life and mindset.

Once you have completed these five steps… you repeat them. Over and over and over again – day after day. This is a daily mindset reset that you need to do. In no time, you will see the amazing benefits of a truthful mindset, which will impact the way you live. Remember, what you believe will dictate they way you live day to day.
