Rajiv Malhotra at Bhabha Atomic Research Center: Why Indian Civilizational challenge to Western Universalism is required
Last updated on: April 19, 2013 at 11:59 am By Desh Kapoor
Rajeev Malhotra’s work on Indic civilization is unique and without parallel. He has written two books – Breaking India and Being Different. And in the latter specifically, he discusses how Indian civilization can challenge the Western Univeralism – which rode on the back of Colonial aggression and stuffed on the colonized. For India, the Indian Historians just took those prejudiced and jaundiced views and have taken on the task of deconstructing the Indian work in Science and philosophy. Rajiv also... Read more

On why Pico Iyer Unplugged from the Digital Grid and Social World
Last updated on: April 19, 2013 at 10:43 am By Desh Kapoor
The digital world has taken over our lives. So much so that we can’t escape being constantly connected 100%. We text, we tweet, we carry cell phones like they’re life lines. We check our e-mails, our Facebook pages, our online status six different ways. And then we start again. We’ve known for a while now that the digital world – great as it is – could be addictive. Overwhelming. An obsession. A leash. A prison. Some people are breaking out. ... Read more

Three Men Deported from Saudi Arabia for being “Too Handsome”; many women could fall for them!
Last updated on: April 19, 2013 at 12:09 am By Desh Kapoor
Some people are born great. Some achieve greatness. Some have greatness THRUST upon them. Three guys stumbled into a Cultural festival in Saudi Arabia from Unites Arab Emirates. They created morbid fear in the minds of the Saudi Religious Police. Were they terrorists? Gamblers? Kafirs – or Non-Muslims? No! They were – by Saaudi religious police’s evaluation – Exceptionally Handsome. In fact, so handsome, that the Saudis feared that women will start falling for them! And, Saudis being the religiously... How the NRA conquered America’s gun debate
Last updated on: April 18, 2013 at 11:49 pm By Desh Kapoor
NRA is a powerful lobby and despite so many deaths and carnages around the country, a 300 year old culture of deviant and violent people is promoted as being the hallmark of the soul of the most developed nation in the world. Just as the Islamists are busy taking over a billion people back to the 7th century; the NRA enthusiasts are taking this nation and its people to the Wild West of the 18th century. Same difference. But these... Read more

Handling your loneliness and ignoring the “Tiger”
Last updated on: April 18, 2013 at 11:24 pm By Desh Kapoor
We are all alone. And we cannot handle that. When I see the world around me, I find the toughest issue with people is not material well being, but handling themselves. Those who haven’t been successful and are pursuing success somehow have a divergence. They know that they have to get somewhere, and moreover in the beginning of the careers, you have lots of people around you. You have energy and want to get somewhere. A higher ideal awaits. Forgetting... Read more

Water is NOT a Human Right (and other Outrageous nonsense) from Nestlé Chairman
Last updated on: April 17, 2013 at 5:06 pm By Desh Kapoor
There are a lot of nuts in the world out there, but this guy certainly takes the cake! He is Nestlé Chairman Peter Brabeck-Letmathe, who while interviewing for a documentary called We Feed the World says “water isn’t a human right”. (Hat tip: Puneet K.) Doesn’t stop there… goes on further to become even more outrageous! He attacks the idea that nature is good, and says it is a great achievement that humans are now able to resist nature’s dominance.... Read more

Last updated on: April 17, 2013 at 1:25 pm By Desh Kapoor
Publishing in India is undergoing a lot of change. Of all the publications, Femina has made an interesting foray into “CrowdSourcing”. It’s first Crowdsourced issues has hit the stands as we speak. The content has been completely contributed by the readers themselves. Their credo was – If you have got a story, we have got the space. There was a time when Femina was at the forefront of Women’s magazines… and then reading Femina became an anti-Feminist activity. Now, by... Read more

Last updated on: April 16, 2013 at 4:03 pm By Desh Kapoor
In today’s education, Social Networks and media is a big plus. Those schools and universities which are using it have impacted the costs and also made the curriculum delivery very effective.
