AP Congress Chief: “Just because India achieved freedom at midnight does not mean that women can venture out after dark”

Last updated on: December 24, 2012 at 8:45 pm   By Desh Kapoor

Just when you think you have heard it all in terms of complete insensitivity of the powers-that-be; someone from the establishment comes out with something that leaves you flabbergasted with the response.  Here AP Congress Chief comes up with the most asinine comment on the Delhi gangrape incident. While his party bosses in the national capital have been nearly pulverized by raging protests against the gang-rape of a Delhi girl, Andhra Pradesh Congress chief Botsa Satyanarayana on Monday opened his... Read more

Delhi Police Commissioner brushes off injured protesters as “Collateral Damage”!

Last updated on: December 24, 2012 at 8:25 pm   By Desh Kapoor

After the Police attacks and imposition of Section 144 on Central Delhi areas, now the Police Chief of Delhi comes and puts salt in the wounds of Delhi-ites who protested. “There is always collateral damage in a crackdown,” Delhi Police commissionerNeeraj Kumar told a TV channel on Monday, referring to the scores of innocent people and mediapersons who got injured in Sunday’s police lathicharge on protesters. The police chief refused to apologize for the Sunday’s action by his force but... Read more

Delhi Protesters had to be engaged, heard, and spoken to… instead they were Lathi charged!

Last updated on: December 23, 2012 at 11:40 pm   By Desh Kapoor

I agree with Kiran Bedi here.  All those 5 people were missing. This bloody Government is only good at blaming others… from BJP, to Team Anna to Arvind Kejriwal’s party to Baba Ramdev.  They themselves are a bunch of goons!  Look in this video at how the policemen are hitting at the young girls!  It is extremely shameful!!  What they are doing is NO different than what the gang rapists had done to the girl..   Related articles from External... Read more

Was the Hindu Golden Age to start After Mayan’s end of world?

Last updated on: December 23, 2012 at 11:21 pm   By Desh Kapoor

A lot has been said about the world ending on December 21, 2012.  Well, since I am writing this on Dec 23, – almost 24th – the world has obviously not ended.  But I came  across this piece which sounds intriguing and interesting.  I haven’t read this scripture – although it is one that my Mother would read very often – so cannot say about the veracity of the claim here.  But I wouldn’t be surprised. News of Nation-wide anger sends chill down Gangrape accused’s spine!

Last updated on: December 23, 2012 at 10:49 pm   By Desh Kapoor

It seems the gangrape accused weren’t aware of the anger around the country regarding their heinous crime.  When they were told of the country-wide anger; it sent chill down their spine.  They froze and also started cooperating with the police.  It was earlier reported how these people had earlier simply gone about their business as they never feared any repercussions due to their act. Perhaps that “confidence” would have still made them feel at ease.  Maybe thinking this is a... Read more

Violence and Political Intrigue at India Gate as Gangrape Protest turns wild

Last updated on: December 23, 2012 at 9:16 am   By Desh Kapoor

India Gate was ground zero today, as the protesters were treated badly. Lathi charged and attacked. There could be many reasons. But one of the reason maybe that IAC, Arvind Kejriwal’s party and even BJP came over to support the efforts.  And in that the Government saw trouble. Hooligans and some political elements on Sunday hijacked the peaceful protests in the Capital over the gang-rape of a young girl resulting in violence and attacks against public property and police which... Read more

Swami Vivekananda on Prosperity of Christian nations and their Evangelism

Last updated on: December 23, 2012 at 8:55 am   By Desh Kapoor

Here is Swami Vivekananda on the so-called prosperity brought by Evangelical Christian nations and their Armies.  He was confronted in US by such evangelicals who wanted him to convert.  This was his reply: “We who had come from the east have sat here day after day and have been told in a patronizing way that we ought to accept Christianity because Christian nations are the most prosperous. We look about us and we see England the most prosperous Christian nation... Read more

How generations of Indian Tribals build “Living Bridges” across rivers from live trees lasting centuries

Last updated on: December 22, 2012 at 5:53 pm   By Desh Kapoor

Meghalaya is a state which has the highest amount of rainfall in the world.  Cherrapunji holds a world record of the highest recorded rainfall.  In such a place, rivers are aplenty.  And trees as well.  When the entire land is crisscrossed with rivers – how do you build so many strong and reliable bridges? The War-Khasi tribe of Meghalaya has come up with the most ingenious idea I have ever seen or heard!  They use a combination of Bamboo tree... Read more

Delhi Gangrape case: Punishment for Rapists – Death or Castration?

Last updated on: December 22, 2012 at 4:40 pm   By Desh Kapoor

Delhi’s Girl (lets call her that instead of the demeaning “Delhi Gangrape victim”) has corroborated that all the 6 guys raped her, which syncs with her friend’s version as well. (All 6 men raped me, Delhi Gangrape victim tells SDM)  She countered the police version, who say that only 4 out of 6 raped her. According to sources, the victim remained calm, composed and corroborated the version of events as they unfolded on the fateful evening as per her 28-year-old... Read more
