Congress to Rushdie: No one can Threaten us, We are Pussies! We give in.

Last updated on: January 25, 2012 at 8:23 pm   By Desh Kapoor

India is an interesting country. So, someone wants to come to the country, but some people aren’t thrilled about that. They go and threaten with violence. The Government, instead, of making sure these elements do NOT threaten the law and order and clearly tell them to not break any law or else – disallows the person to come in. That is the jist of Congress’ reply to Salman Rushdie. How can one expect a Government which acts like this to... Read more

China, Pakistan, Nepal, Myanmar – The Future and Past Follies of India’s Foreign Policy in its Neighborhood

Last updated on: January 25, 2012 at 1:44 pm   By Desh Kapoor

Slowly and gradually and under the very nose of India, Nepal is becoming a vassal state of China. Maoists took over the country and reversed its status as a Hindu State. And now, there is serious talk in that Government of abandoning the special status treaty with India. Because, they want to hedge their bets with China as well. The nexus of Pakistanis and Jehadis – backed by ISI – and China is too strong in Nepal to ignore. The... Read more

The Future of Well Being

Last updated on: January 25, 2012 at 1:02 pm   By Desh Kapoor

There are two parts to well being – Understanding the physical part of your existence and the Energy part of your existence. The former entails handling the structure of the physical, which is easy has quick short term results but long term implications as well. When the long term living is part of short term answers then life can be a series of band aids. On the other hand, when short term tinkering with the physical for handling the immediate... Read more

Indian Prime Minister is now on Twitter

Last updated on: January 24, 2012 at 11:40 am   By Desh Kapoor

The Indian PM is now on Twitter. So, if you want to have a close conversation with him, you can tweet him your mind. GIven his reticent nature he had tweeted only thrice on the first day and garnered 7000 followers already. I am assuming a lot of them were from the PMO office itself 🙂 “The Prime Minister’s office is now on Twitter @PMOIndia Thank you for your support,” Manmohan Singh’s newly appointed communications advisor Pankaj Pachauri said on... Read more

Rushdie won’t Die for Jaipur: even in Virtual form

Last updated on: January 24, 2012 at 2:18 am   By Desh Kapoor

Physical appearance is one thing, Salman Rushdie, in an India which is a free democracy – is not even welcome in a virtual form. Salman Rushdie isn’t welcome at the Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF) in any form, not even virtually. The proposed session with Rushdie at the festival via video link on January 24 ran into trouble on Monday with the Rajasthan government coming up with “intimidating” riders which has made the organizers develop cold feet about hosting the author... Read more

Chinese Government Shoot Tibetan Protesters in Cold Blood

Last updated on: January 23, 2012 at 10:41 pm   By Desh Kapoor

Four Tibetans have self-immolated themselves to protest against their repression by the Chinese Government. Tibetans asking for freedom were arrested a few days back by the Chinese and Tibetan youth came out to protest. What does the Chinese Government do? They start shooting the protesters who were unarmed. One dies (am sure this is a “reduced” number) and scores get injured. It is amazing, that in a world which is so global, everyone still handles China with kids gloves. Specially,... Read more
