The Bible and the Land of Promise: A Christian Conversation: Webinar This Friday June 19, 2020! 2022-02-14T16:21:07-08:00 Rob Dalrymple
Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.
I am very excited to announce that this Friday, June 19, 2020, at 11am PDT (2pm EDT) I will be moderating a live zoom discussion on the Bible and the Land of Promise: A Christian Conversation. You can Register by following this link

What does the Bible say about the land of Israel? Did God promise it all to the descendants of Abraham? Where does that leave the Israelis and the Palestinians today? Did the coming of Jesus alter the way we read the promises of the Old Testament?
I will be joined by four esteemed Christian scholars: Gary Burge PhD, Joel Willits PhD, Craig Blaising PhD, and Daniel Bannoura MA.
There will be a Q&A time to follow.
PANEL
Gary Burge: PhD Kings College Aberdeen. After teaching at Wheaton College (IL) for 25 years, Gary moved to Calvin Theological Seminary (MI) in 2017 where he is a professor of New Testament and Dean of the Faculty. He serves on the board of Christ at the Checkpoint, a biennial conference in Bethlehem about following Christ in the shadow of conflict. His publications include The Anointed Community, a commentary on John’s Gospel, Jesus and the Land, and Whose Land? Whose Promise? What Christians are not being told about Israel and the Palestinians.
Craig Blaising: PhD Aberdeen; ThD from Dallas Theological Seminary. Craig is the senior professor of Theology at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a past president of the Evangelical Theological Society. His publications include Progressive Dispensationalism; Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture: Psalms 1-50; and contributions to various publications including Three Views on the Millennium and Beyond; Israel, the Church and the Middle East; The People, the Land, and the Future of Israel; and the New Christian Zionism.
Joel Willits: PhD Cambridge. Joel is a professor of biblical and theological studies at North Park University in Chicago. His publications include:“:“Do the People of Israel and the Land of Israel Persist as Abiding Concerns for Matthew?” in the New Christian Zionism; as well include contributions to: Introduction to Messianic Judaism: Its Ecclesial Context and Biblical Foundations; Paul and the Gospels: Christologies, Conflicts, and Convergences; Jesus, Matthew and Early Christianity; and, The Dead Sea Scrolls as part of the Essential Bible Reference Series. Joel is the father of twins (a boy and a girl) and a Yankee fan.
Daniel Bannoura: MA (London SOT), MA (Chicago), Lecturer of Islamic Studies and Comparative Religion, Bethlehem Bible College. Born in Jerusalem, having lived in both Palestine and the U.S., Daniel begins Ph.D. studies in Islamic Studies at Notre Dame University this fall. He is active with Kairos Palestine. He has recently lectured on Palestinian Land theology at Christ at the Checkpoint, and is currently writing an introduction to the Qur’an for an Arabic audience. When he is not teaching or researching, Daniel promotes recycling, roasts coffee and runs Ultimate Palestine, the national Palestinian association of Ultimate Frisbee
And then there is me:
Moderator: Rob Dalrymple PhD Westminster Theological Seminary. Rob is a lead pastor in Southern, Ca. He is on the board of NEME. His publications include: Follow the Lamb: A Guide to Reading, Understanding, and Applying the Book of Revelation; These Brothers of Mine: A biblical theology of land and family; and Understanding the New Testament and the End Times. Rob is the father of four and the grandfather of one and a Red Sox fan.
The session will be recorded in case you miss it live. But then you will not be able to ask us any questions.
