Leaving on a Jet Plane? Where would you go? And why?

LOGO Patheos Explore the world's faith through different perspectives on religion and spirituality! Patheos has the views of the prevalent religions and spiritualities of the world.

Christopher West has been around as long as I can remember. I first encountered his writing when I was in RCIA class in 2004-2005. Our instructor rounded out the material on sex & marriage by supplementing the Catechism with one of West’s books.

I didn’t know I would become a Catholic writer all those years ago.

I didn’t know I would go on pilgrimage and work as a travel writer for Select International.

But here I am in Poland on a pilgrimage through Select and hosted by The Cor Project and Christopher West.

Pilgrimage taps into all of our senses, and that connects directly to the Theology of the Body and the message that Christopher West brings to the the faithful after studying Saint John Paul II’s writings extensively.

We eat, drink, hear, taste, ponder, touch, see pilgrimage.

Pilgrimage is all-verb.

It is receiving and giving and growing and walking–and sleeping very little. But that’s okay. Sleep when you get home.

I can write about engaging pilgrimage at length, but nothing does it justice. Pictures help. And so, I want to take you to Poland for a pilgrimage. It is all about:

what you taste

what you think

what you feel

what changes you

And taking all of that back home.IMG_0183 - Copy

It’s knowing you will never be the same. And that, you realize, is the best part of it all. What you take in with all of your senses is God’s world and God’s people and God’s message for you.

Where is God leading you?

He has touched and anointed every corner of the world. Taste and see that the Lord is good. Pilgrimage opens the door on that reality even wider.
