Air<\\/h4>\\n \ I feel the chill clinging to the air until it\\u2019s suddenly gone with rising temperature.\\u00a0 I feel the sun\\u2019s warmth through my clothes.\\u00a0 We rode directly east this morning and the sun dominated the scene.<\\/p>\\n \ I\\u2019m acutely aware of the wind or breeze and its impact on me and my bike.\\u00a0 On one hand, it cools and relieves. On the other hand, the wind buffets and impedes.\\u00a0 After my motorcycle wreck, riding in a stiff wind really scared me.\\u00a0 I felt out of control like I was being tossed around the road.\\u00a0 Only Anthony\\u2019s video of me riding ahead of him convinced me that I wasn\\u2019t tipping sideways as the wind hammered me. The video showed me slicing through the wind without any topsy-turvy movement of my bike or person.\\u00a0 It astonished me.<\\/p>\\n \ I never realized how impactful opposing traffic\\u2019s wind gusts could be\\u2014depending on the size and speed of the vehicle and especially gusts from semis\\u2014and began expecting the wind gusts, like a boat\\u2019s wake, to broadside me as we met for an instant while traveling in opposite directions.<\\/p>\\n \ Creatures<\\/h4>\\n \ I am much more aware of the thousands of insects traveling the same road as my helmet, clothes, and motorcycle collide with their fragile bodies.\\u00a0 Most of them die without any major notice from me.\\u00a0 But when I\\u2019m traveling at highway speeds, larger insects pelt my body with incredible force, leaving splatter and bruises.\\u00a0 I\\u2019ve hit the brakes or steered clear to avoid birds and rodents that I otherwise might not even notice in my truck. They impact me differently on a motorcycle.<\\/p>\\n \ Water<\\/h4>\\n \ I absolutely love coming upon a freshly watered field or pond or river.\\u00a0 The temperature drops.\\u00a0 Water hangs in the air. Smells change. The air feels fresher. Even if the land is not actively being watered, we can always tell it\\u2019s been watered recently.<\\/p>\\n \ Rain, however, elicits a different response!\\u00a0 A heavy rain feels like being pelted by knives! Luckily, we are geared up so aren\\u2019t too bothered by a good shower.<\\/p>\\n \ Point of View<\\/h3>\\n \ Anthony usually rides his bike behind mine, so my view is the open road.\\u00a0 I love pole position driving and love seeing the vastness of my surroundings ahead of me is awesome.<\\/p>\\n \ When I\\u2019m riding in a vehicle, I\\u2019m entertained differently\\u2014audio, AC\\u2014and have a different sense of security.\\u00a0 When I\\u2019m riding on my motorcycle, I feel liberated, yet acutely aware of my surroundings and limitations. I\\u2019m entertained by my conversation with Anthony and by my interaction with every aspect of the ecosystem around me.<\\/p>\\n

My husband and I love riding motorcycles out on an open road. I love observing the intricate correlation of things<\/a> as I ride.\u00a0 None of these things are as observable while riding cocooned in a car, but on a bike, the interconnectedness all around me is so evident.<\/p>\n

Riding to White River Lake<\/h3>\n White River Lake, Texas<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n \ Today we rode 122 miles round trip from Lubbock to White River Lake.\u00a0 I noticed the chill. I enjoyed the strategy of city driving.\u00a0 But when we hit the empty country roads, the joy of being alive kicked in, especially as we dropped down off the caprock and experienced elevation changes.\u00a0 We both saw three deer cross the road ahead of us.\u00a0 One at a time.\u00a0 The last one struggled across the fence.\u00a0 As she jumped the barbed wire fence, her back foot caught on the wire and she somersaulted on her landing!\u00a0 \u00a0She popped up and lept away as I passed perpendicular to her trajectory.\u00a0 I\u2019d never seen a deer miss its landing before!<\/p>\n \ We cheered as the lake came into view.\u00a0 We explored a while before heading back home.<\/p>\n \ Anyway, I appreciate the chances to put myself into new situations where I can see, feel, and hear the impact of the natural world around me\u2014and when I let it impact me.\u00a0 It\u2019s a soul bath that enlivens my mind and is evidence that I\u2019m not alone in this world.<\/p>\n \ \u00a0<\/p>\n "\n And the Lord God said unto Moses: For mine own\u00a0purpose<\/span> have I made these things\u2026.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n And by the\u00a0word<\/span>\u00a0of my power, have I created them, which is mine Only Begotten Son, who is full of\u00a0grace<\/span>\u00a0and truth.<\/p>\n Worlds<\/span>\u00a0without number have I\u00a0created<\/span>; and I also created them for mine own purpose; and by the\u00a0Son<\/span>\u00a0I\u00a0created<\/span>\u00a0them, which is mine\u00a0Only Begotten<\/span>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" My husband and I love riding motorcycles out on an open road.
