Prophets and Apostles Witness of Jesus Christ in Rome
Last updated on: March 11, 2019 at 4:11 am By Delisa Hargrove
On Sunday, March 10, 2019, President Russell M. Nelson dedicated the Rome Italy Temple. Notably, all members of the First Presidency and Quorum of Twelve Apostles joined President Nelson in Rome. “It is significant that the full First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will be together for the Rome Italy Temple dedication,” said Justin Bray, a historian for the Church History Department. “It is rare that they are all together outside of Church headquarters.” After the dedicatory services,... Why We Need Baptism of Water and Fire
Last updated on: March 8, 2019 at 1:13 pm By Delisa Hargrove
Baptism of Water Baptism is an ordinance performed by immersion in water by someone with priesthood authority which symbolizes purification, rebirth, and resurrection. It’s a physical ceremonial act of taking the Savior’s name by symbolically following his path of death, burial, and resurrection. The Lord designated eight as baptismal age. Baptism is a covenant to maintain a sinless, Christlike life by applying the Atonement of Jesus Christ to ourselves, our sins, our weaknesses. It’s also the gateway to admission into... Read more

Lessons Learned from a Pair of Crutches
Last updated on: March 6, 2019 at 12:14 pm By Delisa Hargrove
Trials are inevitable obstacles on our mortal journey. My friend Becky Keogh, from Dundee, Scotland, shares her thoughts on how she’s come to view one major life trial as a blessing. Her words remind me to look at trials as an opportunity for growth, just like she did. Lessons Learned from a Pair of Crutches By Becky Keogh For three years now (except from a few months here and there) either one or both of these crutches and/or a moonboot... Read more

Hearts Open to Conviction of the Holy Ghost
Last updated on: March 2, 2019 at 6:53 pm By Delisa Hargrove
Joseph Smith told Brigham Young to “tell the brethren to keep their hearts open to conviction, so that when the Holy Ghost comes to them, their hearts will be ready to receive it.” So when we think that we know something, or are sure about something, we will still be open to the Holy Ghost and accept revelations, promptings, and chastisements. One reason I love the Book of Mormon is because it’s full of ordinary people having extraordinary experiences. Nearly... Read more

Miracles Following the Savior’s Example
Last updated on: March 2, 2019 at 6:23 pm By Delisa Hargrove
I’ve been studying this profound notion that the Savior commanded us to do the things He did. And I give unto you a commandment, that ye shall observe to do the things which ye have seen me do, and bear record of me even unto the end (JST Matthew 26:25). I feel amazed by what He did. And, wait, it’s a commandment? If the commandment is that we do what He did, I figured I should find a lot of... Read more

Missing The Dolphins Rendezvous
Last updated on: February 16, 2019 at 7:07 pm By Delisa Hargrove
Today I took my cousins Valerie and Cannon to Makua Beach, one of my favorite spots on the island. It’s a beach on West Oahu where dolphins frolic in the bay during the morning light. It’s flanked by fabulous crater-shaped mountains away from civilization. It feels other-worldly. As I walk down the path to the water, peace just envelopes me there. Sometimes, like today, I can spot the dolphins from the road. “Look, dolphins!” I shouted and pointed to the... Read more

A Look at Primeval Coats
Last updated on: February 9, 2019 at 6:22 pm By Delisa Hargrove
To me, two of the most fascinating items the Lord gives to mankind are the coats of skins given to Adam and Eve before they’re expelled from the Garden of Eden. Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them. … Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. The canon doesn’t specifically carry on the story of the coats of skins, but other non-scriptural sources... Read more

Becoming Zion’s Citizens
Last updated on: February 5, 2019 at 6:28 pm By Delisa Hargrove
Zion has this glorious connotation, a vision of community and strength and unity compassed by the glory of God. The Lord identifies Zion’s citizens as “the pure in heart.” The Lord commanded His people to build Zion—as a physical place and a personal state of being. He’s given commandment that applied to the initial restorers of His latter-day kingdom and continues to apply to all covenant keepers now. For Zion must increase in beauty, and in holiness; her borders must be enlarged; her stakes must be strengthened;... Read more

Latter-day Waiting
Last updated on: January 5, 2019 at 8:12 pm By Delisa Hargrove
Waiting hasn’t ever been easy for me. In response to Temple Changes I Can’t Experience Yet, I looked for examples of waiting in latter-day scriptures. My main takeaway was that angels are waiting to reap the earth and sometimes we have to wait to be adequately prepared for things to come. The waiting because of adequate preparation reminded me of President Russell M. Nelson’s plea that we not wait to prepare. [I]n coming days, it will not be possible to... Read more
